Looking for ways/ideas to make an at home 1st bday party special
My dd will be 1 on dec. 9th. We are having immediate family and closest friends over on saturday the 10th at 4pm. I will be making a buffet dinner for everyone and there will be desserts and cake. But besides decorating the house are there any other special touches I can do? There wont be any small kids there just my cousins who range from 8-14yrs old.

How many kids will be there? You could have a 'make your own gingerbread house' craft for them-- use graham crackers instead of gingerbread, which can be easier and less messy.
You could also have ornament making items out-- paper snowflakes, clear or frosted glass ball ornaments with paint pens. Everyone can do that.
You could also have a 'picture area' set up with a background against a wall and a camera on a tripod so people can take photos of themselves or with the birthday girl...sort of a makeshift photo booth.
At my dd's birthday party over the summer, the two 'events' that took place were the cake smash in the kiddie pool and her attempt at opening presents. Nothing high tech or super involved. Everyone had a great time.
Good luck!
