Looks like we're ending our California Vacation...
...with the croup!
She woke up this am with that nasty cough. It's her first time w/ it.
The flight home in a few days should be fun.
Any other advice other that a humidifier?
Remember, we're working with very little humidity here in CA right now, so walks outdoors won't do much.

My aunt always ran a hot, steamy shower and sat in there with my little cousin(the bathroom, not the shower)

OH NO! I hope you aren't in Southern Cal- the air quality here is so bad- I can't stop sneezing and they just cancelled all athletic events here at school. Stay indoors!

i would get vicks baby rub i used it on olivia when she was sick and it seemed to help. best way to apply it is with a baby wipe so your hands so smell of that stuff. put it on her back and chest. also would use a humidifier and bulb out the boogies when possible. sorry to hear alex is under the weather.

That stinks!
Dd always starts with the croupy sounding cough but by the next day it is just a regular cough- maybe it will change.
Have her ears checked before you fly.

That stinks
I hate croup more than anything. I agree with everyone else - steam up the bathroom and use a humidifier. I was told by the ER NOT to use vicks rub.

steamy shower for 10 minutes, then cool air for 10 minutes. works wonders. we just had it last month!

I feel like the croup queen-
The shower advice is best- during an "attack" sit in the bathroom and let the shower run as hot as possible, let the room fill up with steam, then go out into the "cool" room.
Also- J&J makes a baby vapor bath, this to me works wonders...
I would avoid vapor rub IMO
Def. keep her elevated and run the humidifier..
Dont forget the croup is the worst at night, and it usually gets worse for 3-4 days before it gets better..
My Dr always gives RJ an oral steroid, and that seems to clear it up w/in 2 days (IMO- it better to give it for 2 days, then for my child to suffer for 3-4)
Can you take her to the Dr there???? I would get her ears checked before going on the plane...
