Looong list of Registry Questions! Please come in!!
So, I am prepping to register. I asked all of my friends what were the items to add, etc. and I have consolidated the lists... but now I have some questions!
Once I type everything up, I will be happy to email to anyone who is interested. Keep in mind though that my list will have a city skew since all of my friends are in Manhattan or Brooklyn and have a 2BR apt at the max.
Here are my questions....
1- What is the difference b/t an Infant Car Seat and a Convertible Car Seat? I thought you need an infant one, then you transfer to a Toddler one?
2- If you are getting a Bugaboo, did you also register for an umbrella stroller for when the kid is older?
3- Are bottle warmers a waste or not? One of my friends said it created a problem since her DD got used to warm bottles, then wouldn't take one any other way-- which could be a pain when you are on the go.
4- How many different types of bottles did you register for? It seems like there is a lot of trial and error with bottles. Did you just get one kind, then go from there if your baby doesn't like?
5- If you plan on breast feeding, did you get some formula to keep in the house just in case?
6- Did you register for baby proofing items, or are you just going to wait to get since you don't need right away?
7- How many different play/activity items did you register for, i.e. exersaucer, play gym, jumper, etc.?
8- Did anyone get an additional base for their car seat? It's on the registry list from BBB, but we only have one car. Only thing where I can see this would be useful is later down the line, for one of our parents to use if they babysit.
9- Did anyone register for a car window shade? Our backseat windows are tinted-- do we need?
10- How many different baby carriers did you register for? My SIL recco'd 4 different types for different ages. Wondering if I need to bother with all of them.
11- Did anyone get an additional changing mat for on the go? If you have one in your diaper bag, what's the point?
12- How many toys/gifts, etc. did you register for? I feel like people buy this stuff anyway.
I am sure I will have more q's soon-- now, I gotta figure out which brands of everything!!! Overwhelming much??

1- What is the difference b/t an Infant Car Seat and a Convertible Car Seat? I thought you need an infant one, then you transfer to a Toddler one? Once the babies out of the infant seat, they can go into the convertible one... it goes from 5lbs. to about 40 or something like that.
2- If you are getting a Bugaboo, did you also register for an umbrella stroller for when the kid is older? I didn't get a Bugaboo, but I did register for a lightweight stroller and I love it, it is so easy. 3- Are bottle warmers a waste or not? One of my friends said it created a problem since her DD got used to warm bottles, then wouldn't take one any other way-- which could be a pain when you are on the go. From the beginning we made bottles with powdered formula and room temperature bottled water, never had a problem. 4- How many different types of bottles did you register for? It seems like there is a lot of trial and error with bottles. Did you just get one kind, then go from there if your baby doesn't like? Just registered for one type of bottles, he liked them. 5- If you plan on breast feeding, did you get some formula to keep in the house just in case? Yes, I bought a can, but they sent me one as a free sample right before I delivered. 6- Did you register for baby proofing items, or are you just going to wait to get since you don't need right away? My house is mostly baby proofed. We registered for gates. 7- How many different play/activity items did you register for, i.e. exersaucer, play gym, jumper, etc.? Registered for an exersaucer and a gym. Somebody bought me a walker and we ended up buying another gym. 8- Did anyone get an additional base for their car seat? It's on the registry list from BBB, but we only have one car. Only thing where I can see this would be useful is later down the line, for one of our parents to use if they babysit. Yes, love the additional base. 9- Did anyone register for a car window shade? Our backseat windows are tinted-- do we need? Didn't registerer, don't have one. 10- How many different baby carriers did you register for? My SIL recco'd 4 different types for different ages. Wondering if I need to bother with all of them. Somebody gave us one and I don't like it. 11- Did anyone get an additional changing mat for on the go? If you have one in your diaper bag, what's the point? One came in the diaper bag. 12- How many toys/gifts, etc. did you register for? I feel like people buy this stuff anyway.

Can't answer them all so I'll try a few.
4- I registered for 2 different types of bottles, the medela milk storage ones and the born free. I plan on breastfeeding and using the bottles for storage in the future when I switch to pumping.
5- I did not get any formula but I guess Its probably a good idea in case I run into any kind of trouble.
6- The only "baby proofing" item on my registry is a gate. I did not ask for anythign else. I will just get what I need in the future.
7- My SIL gave me a exersaucer. I registred for a jumper and a floor gym for when he's little.
9- I did register for "car" items such as shades and "baby on board" signs.
11- I did register for an extra changing mat. I am very forgetful and I figure it will come in handy I will leave it in the car or something.
12- I registered for a few toys.
If you'd like to see my registry to get some ideas FM me and I will be more than happy to share it with you! XOXOXO BOTB

Re: Looong list of Registry Questions! Please come in!!
1BR apartment girl here. Although I'm all the way in port jeff village, we have a very urbanish feel and organization to our home too... so I hope I can help, as far as space consolidation and what I decided is necessary....
Here are my questions....
1- What is the difference b/t an Infant Car Seat and a Convertible Car Seat? I thought you need an infant one, then you transfer to a Toddler one?
An infant carseat can detach, so you can carry your baby into your apartment... very useful if you are going in and out of cars regularly, since you don't want to wake baby! We got an infant seat (chicco keyfit 30 in race)with a base for every car. the seat will also clip into strollers that have carseat adapters....
The convertible seat is stationary. you have to take baby out. It can be rear facing (for infants) or forward facing... but unlike the infant seats (which are outgrown in about 4-6 mo), these seats last a while, and can be flipped to forwards facing when baby is older.
2- If you are getting a Bugaboo, did you also register for an umbrella stroller for when the kid is older?
not getting a bugaboo..... got a bumbleride indie
3- Are bottle warmers a waste or not? One of my friends said it created a problem since her DD got used to warm bottles, then wouldn't take one any other way-- which could be a pain when you are on the go.
I agree with your friend... more importantly, if you're in an apartment, you want to avoid lots of extra cr@p on your countertops! bottle warmers, sterilizers... all useless! Use a pot for both functions.. but frankly, you don't have to sterilize regularly, and from what I hear, a room temp bottle is fine. just run it under warm tap water for a while.
4- How many different types of bottles did you register for? It seems like there is a lot of trial and error with bottles. Did you just get one kind, then go from there if your baby doesn't like?
I was told by my lactation consultant that bottle fussiness is BS. She said the way it really works is that the breastfed baby will reject bottles, and one day, when he/she is especially hungry or tired, the baby will cave in, and that bottle brand will be the preferred brand.
That being said, we STILL got 2 brands. EvenFlo and born free vented glass bottles.
5- If you plan on breast feeding, did you get some formula to keep in the house just in case?
Yep. I went on diapers.com and got earths best organic formula with DHA. To me, it's an insurance policy if I have latching on issues.
6- Did you register for baby proofing items, or are you just going to wait to get since you don't need right away?
I only registered for outlet plug covers. There's a whole science to baby proofing, and right now, our place is a train wreck as far as being baby-proofed is concerned.... I'll make sure it's all done before Scone is crawling around.
7- How many different play/activity items did you register for, i.e. exersaucer, play gym, jumper, etc.?
This is something us apartment dwellers must be careful about... all these things are sooo bulky! I am post-shower, and can tell you storage is an issue, even though we kept it light and we purged a lot of our own stuff.
We have a pack-n-play that is being kept folded up. it's ONLY for travel. We have a boppy play gym, a baby bjorn bouncer, a papasan swing, and then the high chair. That's IT. Trust me, there's no more room after that and the fat stroller!
no exersaucer, no jumper... we DO have a deluxe pack-n-play, a 2nd swing, and a booster seat at grandmas, though.
8- Did anyone get an additional base for their car seat? It's on the registry list from BBB, but we only have one car. Only thing where I can see this would be useful is later down the line, for one of our parents to use if they babysit.
If only 1 car, then don't register for a 2nd base.. it's a waste of $$ IMO..... If the grand parents want their own carseat, and you will be visiting a lot during the first 4-6 mo, you can always temporarily install the convertible carseat in their car until your baby outgrows the infant seat.
9- Did anyone register for a car window shade? Our backseat windows are tinted-- do we need?
We didn't.... but that's something we could pick-up anytime. I should mention that most carseats have a canopy which can be used to block light...
Oh, on the car note, the mirrors for the backseats are not safe... they become projectiles in an accident
10- How many different baby carriers did you register for? My SIL recco'd 4 different types for different ages. Wondering if I need to bother with all of them. you mean like bjorn carriers? We have only 1... the 'active' baby bjorn one with lumbar support. I don't think I want Scone hanging off of me when he gets too big..... try to avoid getting more than 1 of something if you can... you have to store all of this stuff! Maybe your SIL could give you one of the extras!
11- Did anyone get an additional changing mat for on the go? If you have one in your diaper bag, what's the point? The diaper bag one, that's it. no need for extra clutter!
12- How many toys/gifts, etc. did you register for? I feel like people buy this stuff anyway.
I only registered for items with 5 star reviews from amazon. This included a lot of lamaze toys that clip onto gyms, carseats, and strollers. Frankly, DH and I have a weakness for stuffed animals... this weakness is NOT compatible with apartment living! But we DID buy a giant pig, and 2 teddies on our own when in europe this summer. Suprisingly, we only got about 4 small animals that were NOT on the registry at my showers.
On that note, we also received very little clothing! Almost NONE in the 0-3 mo size... so while you should wait to buy clothes until after your shower, expect to do a few giant clothing runs later on....
HTH's! HAve fun registering......

Re: Looong list of Registry Questions! Please come in!!
I asked a lot of these same questions when I had my DD, and looking back, I should have taken more advice from BTDT moms! Here's my take on your questions:
1- What is the difference b/t an Infant Car Seat and a Convertible Car Seat? I thought you need an infant one, then you transfer to a Toddler one?
Infant car seat is also the infant carrier. it snaps into a base. It only goes to about 40lbs, then you go to a convertible. i think convertible and toddler are the same thing.
2- If you are getting a Bugaboo, did you also register for an umbrella stroller for when the kid is older?
didn't get a bugaboo, but got a cheap umbrella stroller and BRU and it comes in very handy, well worth the $20 I spent
3- Are bottle warmers a waste or not? One of my friends said it created a problem since her DD got used to warm bottles, then wouldn't take one any other way-- which could be a pain when you are on the go.
If you use a bottle warmer, then there is a good chance your dc will only want warm bottles, which can make it difficult when you are out. we used room temp spring water w/powdered formula and dd was perfectly happy with that.
4- How many different types of bottles did you register for? It seems like there is a lot of trial and error with bottles. Did you just get one kind, then go from there if your baby doesn't like?
I went with Dr Browns right from the start. A pain to clean, but they are supposed to be the best for reducing gas. I also heard the Palytex drop ins are very good.
6- Did you register for baby proofing items, or are you just going to wait to get since you don't need right away?
I waited and bought them when DD got older. they are not very expensive and you will most likely have tons of store credits and gift cards to cover them.
7- How many different play/activity items did you register for, i.e. exersaucer, play gym, jumper, etc.?
exersaucer, swing & activity mat. wish I would have registered for a jumper. activity items are popular shower gifts.
8- Did anyone get an additional base for their car seat? It's on the registry list from BBB, but we only have one car. Only thing where I can see this would be useful is later down the line, for one of our parents to use if they babysit.
we got 2 extra for our parents cars and it came in very handy.
9- Did anyone register for a car window shade? Our backseat windows are tinted-- do we need?
yes, and it is great. even if your windows are tinted, the picture ones are cute for entertaining the baby.
10- How many different baby carriers did you register for? My SIL recco'd 4 different types for different ages. Wondering if I need to bother with all of them.
I didn't have a baby carrier at all.
11- Did anyone get an additional changing mat for on the go? If you have one in your diaper bag, what's the point?
no, I didn't get an extra. I just throw the one from my diaper bag in my pocketbook if I am running out quick. they also make disposable ones that you can throw in a bag for when you just run out for a bit and don't take your diaper bag.
12- How many toys/gifts, etc. did you register for? I feel like people buy this stuff anyway.
just a couple of soft toys. you are right - people buy those anyway.
Hope this helps! feel free to fm me if you have any questions!

3- Are bottle warmers a waste or not? One of my friends said it created a problem since her DD got used to warm bottles, then wouldn't take one any other way-- which could be a pain when you are on the go.**No, we did not. I am not planning on warming any bottles b/c I don't want Baby G getting used to having all warmed bottles and not being able to warm them if we are in the car/store. I also read some reviews on them and didn't get good results. A lot of people say they are a PITA and they make the bottle too hot too fast, or they take too long to heat up. Not worth the frustration for those 3am feedings IMO.
4- How many different types of bottles did you register for? It seems like there is a lot of trial and error with bottles. Did you just get one kind, then go from there if your baby doesn't like? **We only registered for the BornFree bottles, but we got some of the Platex drop-ins for free in the mail. We want G to use the BornFree but I wanted to drop-ins just in case he doesn't like the nipple.
5- If you plan on breast feeding, did you get some formula to keep in the house just in case? **Originally I planned on BFing, but found out that I can't. When we planned on it, I still had formula just in case.
6- Did you register for baby proofing items, or are you just going to wait to get since you don't need right away? **We only registered for the outlet covers but we will buy everything else.
7- How many different play/activity items did you register for, i.e. exersaucer, play gym, jumper, etc.? **We got the jumper-roo, exersaucer, the boppy play mat, and the baby einstein play mat. Some of them are in the garage till G gets bigger, but I found that people love to buy that stuff for you.
8- Did anyone get an additional base for their car seat? It's on the registry list from BBB, but we only have one car. Only thing where I can see this would be useful is later down the line, for one of our parents to use if they babysit. **We got an extra base for DH's truck and we told our parents about the base in case they wanted to get one for their own cars.
9- Did anyone register for a car window shade? Our backseat windows are tinted-- do we need? **We did, but I don't have the tinted windows in my car. DH has tinted windows so we didn't get one for his truck
10- How many different baby carriers did you register for? My SIL recco'd 4 different types for different ages. Wondering if I need to bother with all of them. **We only got the one that comes in the travel system. G will grow out of it so fast that we didn't find it worth buying any others.
11- Did anyone get an additional changing mat for on the go? If you have one in your diaper bag, what's the point? **I did. I have one in the diaper bag and one to keep in the living room in case I don't want to walk to his room to change him.
12- How many toys/gifts, etc. did you register for? I feel like people buy this stuff anyway. **We registered for some of the toys you have from the carseat and some other colorful toys. BRU has some box sets that has 14 toys in the box. We didn't register for anything that was from the gift section. Here is the link: Toys

Re: Looong list of Registry Questions! Please come in!!
If you are getting a Bugaboo, did you also register for an umbrella stroller for when the kid is older?
I think we are going to get an umbrella stroller eventually, but we're not registering for one. We are also in the city and have very limited space. I think the Bugaboo and snap and go is all we are getting at first and we're keeping the snap and go in the car for when we have to park 9 million miles away from our apt.
3- Are bottle warmers a waste or not? I think they are a waste, but I am a 1st time Mom, so have no real experience. I have seen my own Mom heat up bottles in a pot of warm water. Again, a space issue for me.
4- How many different types of bottles did you register for?
I registered for the evenflow glass bottles in 2 sizes and then a 3 pack BPA free plastic bottles for when DD gets older and can hold the bottle by herself.
5- If you plan on breast feeding, did you get some formula to keep in the house just in case?
I am definitely going to keep formula in the house just in case.
6- Did you register for baby proofing items, or are you just going to wait to get since you don't need right away? I'm waiting.
7- How many different play/activity items did you register for, i.e. exersaucer, play gym, jumper, etc.? I registered for a Boppy Tummy Time Mat. No exersaucer etc, because I am hoping to get hand me downs.
8- Did anyone get an additional base for their car seat? I registered for an additional base. My sister will be caring for DD when I am at work, so I figured it would come in handy.
9- Did anyone register for a car window shade? Our backseat windows are tinted-- do we need? This is a good idea. I think I will register for one.
10- How many different baby carriers did you register for? I registered for an Amy Coe sling for me and a sling for DH.
11- Did anyone get an additional changing mat for on the go? If you have one in your diaper bag, what's the point?
DH's best friend works for skiphop, so thankfully we have that covered.
12- How many toys/gifts, etc. did you register for? I feel like people buy this stuff anyway. I registered for a few little toys--car seat toys, a taggie ball, that aquarium that goes in the crib etc. oh, and a cute teddy bear.
FM if you want to look at my registry. I am buying some stuff myself (like the stroller, crib etc) so it's not as big as some others, but it covers alot of the basics.

Re: Looong list of Registry Questions! Please come in!!
1- What is the difference b/t an Infant Car Seat and a Convertible Car Seat? I thought you need an infant one, then you transfer to a Toddler one? You do not need an infant seat, but I think they are a great thing to have, DS used his til he was 9 months old. If the baby falls asleep it is so easy to just carry the carrier and not have to move them.
2- If you are getting a Bugaboo, did you also register for an umbrella stroller for when the kid is older? I didn't register for a Bug, and most people disagree with me, but I only registered for 1 stroller (and have been using it for 16 months-a Metrolite)
3- Are bottle warmers a waste or not? One of my friends said it created a problem since her DD got used to warm bottles, then wouldn't take one any other way-- which could be a pain when you are on the go. Waste
4- How many different types of bottles did you register for? It seems like there is a lot of trial and error with bottles. Did you just get one kind, then go from there if your baby doesn't like? I registered for 2 and used 2. But this really depends on the baby.
5- If you plan on breast feeding, did you get some formula to keep in the house just in case? Personal choice, some people think if you have it in hte house it is easier to give it.
6- Did you register for baby proofing items, or are you just going to wait to get since you don't need right away? Absolutely not. You don't need that for a year or so.
7- How many different play/activity items did you register for, i.e. exersaucer, play gym, jumper, etc.? We only registered for a playmat. We were moving and weren't sure of space issues and a lot of that stuff takes up a lot of room.
8- Did anyone get an additional base for their car seat? It's on the registry list from BBB, but we only have one car. Only thing where I can see this would be useful is later down the line, for one of our parents to use if they babysit. We did, but we have two cars. You can install the infant seat without a base, so your parents really don't need a base.
9- Did anyone register for a car window shade? Our backseat windows are tinted-- do we need? No, but we bought one, it falls off.
10- How many different baby carriers did you register for? My SIL recco'd 4 different types for different ages. Wondering if I need to bother with all of them. Just a bjorn.
11- Did anyone get an additional changing mat for on the go? If you have one in your diaper bag, what's the point? Not necessary.
12- How many toys/gifts, etc. did you register for? I feel like people buy this stuff anyway. None. People buy it if they want to.
Just let me say that I didn't register for a lot of stuff that would be needed AFTER the infant stage, you don't know what your baby will need or want and since BRU suckks with returns, I'd be hesitant to register for a ton of things you may never use, KWIM?

. but unlike the infant seats (which are outgrown in about 4-6 mo), .
This is a very blanket and not true statement. My DS used his til 9 months and probably could have gone longer, it just got too heavy for ME.

Re: Looong list of Registry Questions! Please come in!!
Infant carseat is for when they are little little. My DS wanted out of his at 2 months (but he was big at birth. I've had friends use theirs up to a year. They are VERY convenient vs. the convertible carseat - esp. at the newborn stage.
Bottle warmers are a waste IMO. I have a little pot next to the sink - I put hot water in it - put the bottle in for maybe 30 seconds to take the chill out - and that's it. And, my son can also drink a cold bottle.
We swear by Dr. Browns bottles. Actually everyone I know used Dr. Browns for the most part.
Did not breastfeed but I would keep formula in the house just in case.
I registered for two gates and got them both. I had over 100 people at my shower so I really needed to register for alot.
We had another base and honestly never used it. If Dh took the baby - he took the jeep and I took his car.
I think you need all play things honestly - they do different things - and your child may like them differently. We had both the jumperoo and the exercauser.
No need for an additional changing mat.
Ds didn't go in a carrier.
I registered for a few toys (but again bc of the amount of people at my shower.)
HTH!

1- What is the difference b/t an Infant Car Seat and a Convertible Car Seat? I thought you need an infant one, then you transfer to a Toddler one?
Infant car seats are good up to 22-30lbs depending on type of car seat. Yes you should register for both. Infant car seats are very useful in the beginning...you don't need to wake the baby to get in and out of the car.
2- If you are getting a Bugaboo, did you also register for an umbrella stroller for when the kid is older?
Definitely. I have a Bugaboo and an I'coo (same as Rock Star stroller very similar to Bugaboo...I love strollers LOL) and I live in the city. You will definitely need a lightweight stroller (Mac or such) to travel. The Bugaboo is great for walking but not for traveling espcially on the train or bus since it's a 2 piece fold.
3- Are bottle warmers a waste or not?
I lived by mine in the beggining. DD drank warm and room temp bottles depending on where we were.
4- How many different types of bottles did you register for?
I used Playtex drop ins (still do) and Born free as well as Evenflo glass and Gerber BPA free. Register for a few since you don't know what you DC will like or dislike.
5- If you plan on breast feeding, did you get some formula to keep in the house just in case?
I tried pumping but had to supplement. Every one is different when it comes to this. I wouldn't buy any formula if you plan on EBF. You can always see how it goes and if you have to can run to the grocery for formula.
6- Did you register for baby proofing items, or are you just going to wait to get since you don't need right away?
Yes. Why not. I did and got some off my registry. Doesn't hurt. If you get it less stuff to buy in the long run.
7- How many different play/activity items did you register for, i.e. exersaucer, play gym, jumper, etc.?
I registrered for excersauser and jumperoo. Jumperoo is in my house Exersaucer in my Mom's. DD uses both.
8- Did anyone get an additional base for their car seat? It's on the registry list from BBB, but we only have one car.
Depends. I didn't. You can use the car seat without the base for those times that you parents will be with your DC or you can put it down and see if you get it. Depends on how many times you think your parents will be with DC.
9- Did anyone register for a car window shade? Our backseat windows are tinted-- do we need?
Yes I use mine
10- How many different baby carriers did you register for? My SIL recco'd 4 different types for different ages. Wondering if I need to bother with all of them.
I only had the Bjorn and didn't get much use out of it but then again YMMV.
11- Did anyone get an additional changing mat for on the go? If you have one in your diaper bag, what's the point?
No not necessary.
12- How many toys/gifts, etc. did you register for? I feel like people buy this stuff anyway.
Very few if any. You're right people tend to get this anyway especially once they come visit the baby.
I am sure I will have more q's soon-- now, I gotta figure out which brands of everything!!! Overwhelming much??
Very overwhelming but fun!! Congrats!!

. but unlike the infant seats (which are outgrown in about 4-6 mo), .
This is a very blanket and not true statement. My DS used his til 9 months and probably could have gone longer, it just got too heavy for ME.
well, that at least was the case with several of my friends. well before the weight limit was reached, the height limit was reached, and they abandoned their infant seats..... so I was warned that it was a temporary thing...
since DH and I are taller than my friends and their DH's, I suspect Scone will outgrow the seat super-fast... probably 5 mo?

Ya never know....My DH is 6'4" and DS has always been 50th percentile for height.

Re: Looong list of Registry Questions! Please come in!!
I had a bottle warmer that charged in the car for when we had outtings. Otherwise, I ran the bags of refridgerated BM under hot water.
If you are planning on having another baby within the next 2 years, don't go crazy with the strollers. I have never used an umbrella stroller for DD (her regular one is just fine) and I'm glad I never got one because it would be useless now that #2 is on the way.
The hospital will send you home with TONS of formula, and you will receive formula in the mail from both Enfamil and Similac.
We registered for 2 types of bottle. Dr. Browns and Playtex drop-ins. Both worked fine, but I found the drop-ins MUCH easier since they have no parts other than bottle and nipple.
I registered for an exercauser (DD loved), a bouncer (hated), doorway jumper (STILL using it at 15 months!!!), playmats (take or leave.... a blanket with toys works the same).
Even with the tinted windows, you'll still need a shade.
We didn't register for many small toys since people generally like to buy those things on their own.
If your short on storage space, forgo the baby proofing items now.
What kind of baby carriers is your SIL recommending? We have a Bjorn and used it once in awhile.

DD is 9 months and still fits in her infant car seat. She has as Graco Safe Seat. Now a lot of the infant car seats weight and length limits have been raised to 30lbs/30 inches so babies are able to use them longer. Depends on which one you register for and what you prefer.

Re: Looong list of Registry Questions! Please come in!!
1- What is the difference b/t an Infant Car Seat and a Convertible Car Seat? I thought you need an infant one, then you transfer to a Toddler one? Infant car seats have a much smaller weight limit and are only rear facing. They are also removable and can be used with a car seat stroller frame or a travel system. Convertible car seats can be both rear and forward facing. They stay in the car. IMO, it's good to start out with the infant seat and then use the convertible seat although you technically can use the convertible car seat from the beginning.
2- If you are getting a Bugaboo, did you also register for an umbrella stroller for when the kid is older?
3- Are bottle warmers a waste or not? I've heard they were a waste so I'm not getting one. I'm planning on EBFing at least for the first few months.
4- How many different types of bottles did you register for? It seems like there is a lot of trial and error with bottles. Did you just get one kind, then go from there if your baby doesn't like? I registered for 3 different kinds which were BPA free.
5- If you plan on breast feeding, did you get some formula to keep in the house just in case? I haven't bought any yet. I've heard that you get a lot of samples. I may buy a small can or two though eventually.
6- Did you register for baby proofing items, or are you just going to wait to get since you don't need right away? We registered for a few outlet covers, but that was about it.
7- How many different play/activity items did you register for, i.e. exersaucer, play gym, jumper, etc.? We registered for the exercauser and gymni.
8- Did anyone get an additional base for their car seat? We have two cars and will each pick up and drop off for daycare so we need to have the second base. We also registered for 2 convertible car seats.
9- Did anyone register for a car window shade? Our backseat windows are tinted-- do we need? One of our cars has tinted windows so I only registered for 2 window shades for the other car.
10- How many different baby carriers did you register for? I just registered for the Baby Bjorn.
11- Did anyone get an additional changing mat for on the go? If you have one in your diaper bag, what's the point? I haven't decided on a diaper bag yet and don't know whether it will come wtih a changing pad. I registered for the Skip Hop wallet which has a changing pad. I don't think it's necessary to have an additional changing mat if you have one in the diaper bag.
12- How many toys/gifts, etc. did you register for? I registered for a handful of toys based on the reviews on BRU. I'd rather at least put the ones I want on the registry than just let people get anything. Plus, that will hopefully avoid any duplicates.
