Loosing weight... is this possible??

We are going to Disney in September, when it's HOT. And my brother is getting married 9/22 but Im more concerned about the pool in Disney . I have baby weight to loose. I want to be back below my pre Lucas weight. So far I have lost 26lbs since he was born 10 weeks ago. I am breastfeeding. I still have 17lbs to go to get back to pre Lucas weight. Am I being unrealistic that I can loose 20lbs in 4 1/2 months while breastfeeding?? I have been talking 1-2 mile walks with the kids since the weathers been nice, about 3 a week. I have a 10 minute fitness DVD that I try to do in between stopping Emma and Jeremy from fighting and tending to the newest member of the family. I still have a bloated stomach that I need to start doing some crunches to get rid of but Im giving my stomach another 2 weeks to heal from surgery. I remember post Jeremy stomach it was still bigger than normal till about 6 month PP. Ive cut out the crap from my diet too. No more late night snacks although Im hungry. I just feel like I have way out in left field goals set for myself. I don't want to be disappointed when Sept rolls around and my rolls are still around. Joining a gym isn't an option, DH works all the time and I dont do newborn day care.

Re: Loosing weight... is this possible??

i have the solution for you! Chat Icon i had gained 25 pounds with DD, i was breastfeeding too, and by 4 months post partum, i had lost those 25 pounds PLUS almost another 20!!! how, do you ask? WELL (besides the breastfeeding), i went on the SOUTH BEACH DIET! which isnt even a diet at all, to me at least. go buy the book, it is $12.95 i think, and trust me, you will lose the pounds you want...the best part of the diet is that you lose stomach fat first! and dont worry about it being a "diet" while you are breastfeeding- it is VERY HEALTHY, and wont do anything to your milk. i swear by this diet.... i used it before i got pregnant as well, and lost 15 pounds!! and again, to me, it isnt a diet, it is really like a lifestyle change. if you get the book, youll understand everything about it, how it works (there are 3 phases, phase one is the hardest, but it is ONLY TWO WEEKS, so it goes by fast!)

ANYway, FM me if u have any questions about it- you can look great before JUNE, not september....good luck, hope this helps...

Re: Loosing weight... is this possible??

I think if you eat healthfully, it is realistic to lose 20 pounds in 4 months - thats 5 lbs a month - which is very realistic - I think if you said 1 or 2 mts that would not be healthy, but 4 months is totally doable if you do it right! Good luck!

I agree that SB is a great solution. The first two weeks are low carb - but it is only to kick the bad carb habit (and honestly when you make it through, you don't have those cravings anymore) then you reintroduce good carbs after that (whole grains, etc) It really shows you how to be a healthy eater - we don't need white flour and sugar.

Re: Loosing weight... is this possible??

well, if anyone here wants to go on the SB diet, i def suggest getting the book! it tells u how carbs are digested and why the "white flour" carbs are so bad for you, whtie brea, sugar, etc... if u read everything, it makes you really think "man, i have GOT to stop eating those carbs"....lol

now, in the book, it states there are 3 phases, and the first one is the hardest, and is 2 weeks long (or 3 if you want to lose more it is up to you)...this means- no juice, no candy, no bread, pasta, cereal, chips..... there is a list in the book on foods to enjoy and foods to avoid....i ate a lot of salads (be careful on your dressing choice though- i did a lot of blue cheese, ranch, and plain oil and vinegar), i added chicken and steak to the salad, the mornings i would eat a lot of egg white omelettes with spinach and cheese or peppers and ham, with turkey sausage...lunches would be the salads, dinners i would do turkey burgers or regular burgers with cheese and mustard (no ketchup on this diet!)...snacking i would do almonds and pistachios, turkey and ham rollups (looks like rollups with cheese and i use mustard in the middle)....for my sweet fixes, you are allowed sugar free hard candy, and i did diet CAFFEINE FREE soda and crystal lights, and also sugar free fudgsicles and sugar free popsicles...

after the first 3 days, it is SOOO EASY! its those first few days when u are used to your cereal or toast blah blah....after your body cleans itself out, u no longer crave all that stuff....they say the more carbs u eat, the more u crave, and it is just a vicious cycle...

ps- i am not a fish eater, but fish is fine on this diet too...i only ate tuna, so this diet is a lot easier for people who like shrimp and fish and stuff...

anyway, hope this helps a little bit...but get the book, seriously, it tells u a LOT more.....

oh yeah, also, no alcohol those first two weeks either...

after those first 2 weeks, u start to re-introduce carbs back in, but it is good whole grain carbs....

and yes, this diet is FINE if u are breastfeeding! i was breastfeeding, and still am, and both my ped and obgyn said this diet was fine- it is full of meats and veggies and dairy.....

good luck!

Re: Loosing weight... is this possible??

Ive found that doing WW CORE (not counting points, many people dont know about this program within WW).

I did it 2yrs ago, and lost 18lbs in less than 3m. (lost 7 lbs the first week)

I started it again over a month ago, and have lost 8.5 lbs so far. I was a slacker the first couple of weeks this time Chat Icon

It's great. no portion control, no points. But its about changing the way you eat, more whole grains, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, no sugar, no bread.
you get used to it, youre allowed SOOOO MUCH. so it's a matter of discipline.

and Ive also been going to the gym. thats huge for me. working out is a huge factor for me. and recently ive been doing strength training before cardio (before I was doing cardio first) and found that even that makes a huge difference.

Re: Loosing weight... is this possible??

its pretty much all u can eat, but what u are eating is going to keep u feeling a lot more full than what u were used to eating, so u end up not eating as much anyway...but no, it isnt portion control- so go for those turkey rollups!
