lost gift card - question

I got 2 TD bank gift cards from my class for $50 last week... I have 2 classes and got 2 cards for the same value...very nice... I can't find one of them though!! and neither of them gave me the receipt or put their names on the card directly.... so, 2 things

1) I don't know if the missing card is from Class A or Class B, which mean I don't know which parent to contact, and if I pick the wrong parent first then I look dumb.
2) If the parent doesn't have the receipt, the $ is lost permanently b/c I didn't get a chance to write down the card #s or register them

My question for you is, if as a class parent, I called you asking if you still had the receipt, would you be annoyed? There's a slight chance it's still on my desk, but I'm good about monetary gifts and always put them directly in my bag - but it's not there now....and I'm very perplexed...I have all of the other cards, small gifts I received from the kids here with me, but that darn green box with the GC is missing!

If the mom still has the receipt, I can easily get it replaced. If not, the money is lost and I'll feel terrible even letting them know that I lost it. Do I just lose the $50 or should I ask them? I feel so badly and the $50 would have helped...

Would you ask or just lose the $50 and let it go?

I'd ask! Explain how hectic the last day before a vacation is, and in the chaos the card was misplaced!

Good Luck- hope you get it back!Chat Icon

Call them - I wouldn't be annoyed to receive that call. I'm sure that they'll understand Chat Icon

I dont think they would think you are irresponsible - it's one of those things that happens. If I were the gift giver here - I would want you to call to get the gc info so you can use the gift!
