Loud Music and Baby...

Okay, maybe it's just me getting paranoid, but here's a question for ya...

I'm a HS cheerleading coach, and my girls constantly need a blasting radio for halftime dances, etc. I'm always around loud music.

Is this a problem for my little nugget? Am I causing damage before the little one is even born, or is it so muffled in there that the baby won't be affected?

Thanks for entertaining my silly question of the day!!!

Re: Loud Music and Baby...

It's really not a silly question at all. According to my What To Expect Book, they do address workplace noise. They say it can be a concern if you are working let's say an 8 hr shift, where the sound decibel is more than 90 or 100 (for ex, standing next to a chain saw, drill, or snowmobile).

I don't know if the noises you refer to are louder than the above examples. If so, I would talk to your dr to see what he/she thinks.

I went to a concert a few weeks ago and asked my OB if the loudness is an issue and she told me to have fun. Chat Icon I'm going to another one in a couple of weeks.

I also went to a loud concert and asked my OB. He wasn't concerned.

I don't think NYteacher would be concerned if it was once in a while, but more that it's everyday. I def would ask the OB about it.

Re: Loud Music and Baby...

I was given the go-ahead by my OB to go to a Nine Inch Nails concert about 6 weeks before I give birth. Of course, now DH doesn't want me to go because of the exposure to smoke from pot. I respect that he's concerned about this, so I'm not going to go...

...but I will admit to blasting my music in the car every day. I gotta get her started off right. Chat Icon
