Lovenox Ladies
So I have been on 40mg of Lovenox for a few weeks now. At first, I only had minor bruising at the injection site but now almost my whole stomach is one big ugly dark purple bruise. It looks nasty! Is this normal? Does it ever go away whike still on the injections? It doesn't hurt but I wasn't sure if maybe I am on too high a dose.

40mg is the standard dose unless u have had dvts or clots in the past. Im on 40mg and yes some of the bruises are horrible while others are just pea size. I see a hematologist and he said its perfectly normal - no need to worry.

Re: Lovenox Ladies
I'm on 40mg and I was a giant bruise at one point. It looked like someone was beating me. But I started doing the injections laying down or sitting and for some reason I don't get the bruising as bad as when I did them standing

It gets progressively worse unfortunately... are you icing down first? When I didn't ice down I bruised more than now as I do ice it isn't as bad- mostly dots instead of out-and-out bruising.

Re: Lovenox Ladies
After a few weeks I pretty much stopped getting bruising.
Here are some tips, in case you don't do them already
- pinch the fat where you are going to do the injection, then hold the pinch for about a minute after you inject.
- NEVER rub the site you just injected in.
- alternate injection sites - the worst bruise I ever got was horrible, it was huge and black I got so scared and called the hematologist who said I probably did the injection over another site that was already a little bruised under the skin. So don't just alternate sides, but try to do different areas on your belly too.
