Low Fliuid and a Possible Induction?

I had my Biophysical Profile last week sjust to find out that my fluid levels were normal but low normal, so I had to come back this week to have the re-checked (I am 36 weeks today). Unfortunately, they are lower, so I have to have them re-checked next week, and I am afraid that there is a chance I will have to be induced if they are still lower. Did this happen to anyone or anyone that you know?

Re: Low Fliuid and a Possible Induction?

I was induced on my due date for low/no fluid. I had a slow leak and hadn't realized it, so when I went in for my appt and said DS wasn't moving much, I had a sono and was rushed to the hospital. 2 rounds of cervadil, 1 of pitocin, and 7 hours pushing, and DS was born vaginally.

Re: Low Fliuid and a Possible Induction?

Crashing here - I spent the last three weeks of my pg having sonograms every 2-3 days because my fluid level would go up and down. I think I had a slow leak too. At two days before 39 weeks, with the fluid very low again, my OB said the baby had to come out. She also told me that the induction had the potential to be very difficult because it would be a "dry birth" and could very well end up in a c-section anyway. I chose to go straight with the c section. While my OB was performing the c-section, she commented that I had absolutely no fluid left and that we made the right decision in terms of the c-section.

Re: Low Fliuid and a Possible Induction?

To me! The day before DD was due, I didn't feel her moving much and went to doc. Fluid was low, she was ready, I was due the next day. Got induced. I wasn't dilated at all so cervadil got things going. Water broke, progressed a little, contractions got really bad...I think b/c of cervadil. Got epidural, felt wonderful. DD's heart rate dropped quite a bit, and then went alarmingly low. Bc water had broken, I was only 2.5 cm, and heart dropping, we had to do emergency C. As a whole, I have an amazing, healthy baby...I would say, though (not to upset you), that although the pregnancy was incredible and seamless, from the time I got induced to the actual C, my birth story was NOT how I imagined or planned. i had borderline low fluid at 32w due to the onset of pre-eclampsia. i ended up delivering at 33w when i developed HELLP syndrome (a complication of pre-eclampsia).

Thank you for your stories! I am getting nervous about being induced so early in terms of the baby's health and the prospect of a failed induction. I had a very successful induction with my first DD, but that was at term. Chat Icon

Re: Low Fliuid and a Possible Induction?

This happend with my first daughter & I had her 2 weeks early. was so scared b/c as much as you want to be early when it happens you think the worst but all works out. My fluid was so low.. I stayed off my feet & that worked, not enough to keep her in but my numbers didnt drop as much as they were when I was up & running around..
Hope all works out.. take it easy!

Re: Low Fliuid and a Possible Induction?

this happened to me. i had 1 point something level of fluid. i was supposed to be induced anyway at 39 weeks due to GD.

i had a lot of stomach pain that wasnt contractions so i called to make an appt and they took a look and sent me into the hospital at 38w4d.

i ended up with preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. they induced me 5 times!!! with the 4 hour medicine. then i got pitocin and i ended up having a csection when i was 38w6d.
