Re: lpn/rn

I am neither, however did start in school to be an RN.
I went to SUNY Famingdale. (I chose them because, at least back then, you got right into clinical your first semester, not your 3rd year like Stonybrook and some 4-ys degrees are.)

Back then the application process/acceptance was tough! I got accepted to Nassau, Farm, ASU, York, Stonybrook, but Suffolk tuned me down. Chat Icon I still laugh about that.

Hospitals hire both, however depending the hospital, some like the LPN, because they are cheaper and they can use them for lesser money for the same responsibilities. Some hospitals will pay for you to get your bachelors, masters, etc.

Hope this helps a little?!

I learned that! But then again when I went for the interview (I was 17) and they pretty much told me to my face they don't usually accept applicates out of high school.
So I was not really surprised when they turned me down.

that was a long time ago, but I can't imagine it getting easier, medicine is always a good field!

Re: lpn/rn

i was an lpn first n now i'm an rn. i went to molloy.......there is a diff. in salary but it really depends on where you work. not all hospitals hire lpn. as an rn u have the potential to work in endless specialties,, management positions, administration, education. you get a lil more in salary for you bachelors as opposed to AA. i would say that there is at least a 10$ diff/hour in pay rate for rn/lpn. lpn can make 21 to start no experience while the rn no experience can make 31/32 no exp......n then u go into shift diff. education, etc.!
