Lump Behind Ear?

Does anyone know what this could be from? This morning I noticed a small lump behind his ear. Otherwise he seems fine. No fever, rash, seems happy.

I called his doctor's office and she's out today unfortunately, and the doctor covering for her doesn't arrive until 10:30. So I'll call again then, but any suggestions are welcome!

My son has this also. He has had it for weeks, got it right after his MMR shot. My Ped. says that it is nothing to worry about.

how old is your baby? sounds like a Swollen lymph nodes, maybe he is coming down with cold or something, or could be from shots(if he got any) his immune sistem fighting something new in his body. my DD had little swallen lymp nodes behind her ears when she was few weeks old and the ped said it's nothing and it would just go away, it did go away 2 weeks later.

He's 4 months. He hasn't had his 4 month shots yet, so it's almost a month since his last round of shots (polio and pneumonia). We were going on Tuesday for that visit.

I'll call the doctor, but maybe he's fighting off a cold--I was thinking ear infection, but he doesn't seem cranky or feverish today.

DS has had this for a long time now. I keep bringing it up to the ped and she said that because he has a tiny bit of cradle cap still on his head, that is what it is from. She said it was a swollen gland. Honestly, I can't see the cradle cap so I forget that it's there.

Huh, he had cradle cap until recently too--it finally seems to have cleared up.

I just spoke to the doctor on call, and he said the same, it's probably a swollen lymph node and don't worry about it unless he develops a fever, fusses a lot, etc. He said to call back if his behavior seems odd and bring him in, but so far he's fine. I may wait till his regular doctor is back tomorrow. We have his play group today, but maybe I should skip, just in case it is anything else.

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate the feedback!
