Lupron treatment for Endometriosis
Has anyone here done a Lupron treatment for Endo? My doctor said I'll probably need to do a 6 month treatment of it. It's most likely one thing I'll have to do in addition to surgery, etc. I was dead set against it last time and I still am. But, if I have no other way of getting rid of the Endo, then it will keep growing and ruin all of my chances of being able to conceive again. I'm really scared of doing it because of what it is actually doing to your body? I've read that it's not safe number one, so that freaks me out, then number two what if it completely screws up my system after the treatments and it hurts our chances of conceiving even more when that time comes, and number three, I've heard of the horrible side effects. Can anyone offer their advice, knowledge of any of this? Thanks!

Re: Lupron treatment for Endometriosis
I did Lupron for 6 months after a lap when I was 17. I don't know how much you know about it, but it is a shot intramuscularly(I got it in the butt cheek) once a month for 6 months. It puts you into menopause for the time that you are on it. This helps to shrink any remaining endo that is microscopic, and could not be seen to be scraped out. The side effects probably vary from person to person, but I had mood swings, hot flashes and night sweats. I had 2 laps done before that treatment and have not had to have another one in a few years. I had stage 2 endo.
As far as effecting your fertility, I can tell you that I conceived on my own last year. Ultimately it ended in miscarriage, but I was able to get pregnant after doing Lupron. Of course I haven't gotten pregnant since, but I have a handful of other issues I blame that on.
ETA: Many of the women on this board i've noticed use Lupron as part of their IVF protocol. It can't be detrimental to your fertility of RE's are prescribing it, right?
