Luteal Phase Defect and spotting before AF..good news
Hi Ladies, just wnated to share my story for any of you that have unexplained IF
Background:
Trying for 9 + months
Short LP (10 days) with spotting for days before (and HORRIBLE periods with buckle over cramps)
After rounds of tests with the RE and nothing offically causing my IF and no true diagnosis, the RE figured it might have something to do with my Thyroid since it was"slightly" off..
Every yearly physical they tell me- thyroid is slighly off but not enough to feel we need to treat it.
My RE defined it as subclinical hypothyroidisim and he said there is more literature around that points to this as being a true cause of IF.
So, he put me on synthyroid.
I have been on for 3 weeks now and my luteal phase went from 9-10 days to 13 days! 
At first I was relaly excited because I thought I might be pregnant and I felt different . I wasnt bloated, had no cramps and I felt "too good to have AF coming" so I figured I must be pregnant.
But I took a few HPTs and they were all neg.
Then today I got AF.
As sad as I was that I was not pregnant, I know nowthat the meds are causing this change and WORKING.
I am more hopeful now that my fertility has changed for the better.
The moral of the story is, get your thyroid checked.
TSH, T3 and T4.
Anf if you have even a slightly off thryroise and also IF, explore the options of getting treated with medicine.
I now have more hope that I am one step closer to being a mom.

Excellent So happy for you
I got mine tested twice this year and everything is OK with my thyroid.
Like you...I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Apparently, my ovaries are as yound as a 28 year old even though I am 38 .... DH a sperm count of 70million...We have been TTC for over a year.
First shot of Lupron today...doing IUI
We will see what happens
