lyme disease

A couple of weeks ago I got bit by a tick. DH pulled it out of the back of my leg and we thought that was that.

Thursday the back of my leg started hurting, then it got swollen, and now I can't bend my leg at all. I went to the doctor today and she said it looks to her like lyme disease.

They did blood work and she started me on antibiotics. She reassured me that they wouldn't hurt the baby but I am just so upset. Chat Icon

My hands are hurting and I am so tired. It's probably from just being so pregnant but now all I can think of is that it's from the lyme disease.

I'm just bummed I guess.

danielle - i'm so so sorry....

the good thing is that they have come a long way with treatment and that the baby will be fine regardless.

it's HUGE that you got it early - great looking out and NOT Putting off the doc appointment...so MANY MANY people would've just let it slide....

Finding it early is the key - I had a few friends go through this - not while pregnant, but treatment was pretty straightforward since it was caught early. Good luck!! Chat Icon

Same here-I have a friend who has this and they did not catch it early so she will no deal with it for the rest of her life.

On a good note, she has gotten pregnant twice since her diagnosis and carried both children to term and they were born very healthy!

I remember someone else who was pregnant & on the antibiotics for lyme disease...I know everything was fine...but I can't for the life of me recall who it was...

Re: lyme disease

Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement everyone.

I am feeling much more positive today. I think it's due to being able to move my leg a little better and I feel her kicking away in there. The doctor did say I was a fingertip dilated yesterday so that's a good thing.

I was getting so scared about labor because I know you need to bend your knees back and that was just not a possibility through the weekend and yesterday.

Thank you again for all the support!! Chat Icon Chat Icon
