Lymes Disease

Has anyone had it? Or been treated for it without a positive test?

My mom has been thru the ringer, and to many doctors, and many tests, because her knees have some swelling--like fluid filled egg shaped sacks on the sides of her knees that are very severely painful...

She has been on a few medications for the pain that would throw off the Lymes test. (For some reason, she was not tested for it FIRST! )

Anyways, after all negative tests, showing nothing in the fluid or bloodwork, my mom is being treated for Lymes...She has been on antibiotics for 2 weeks and notices a slight improvement.

The tests all show negative, but the meds seem to be working---the doctor feels it is Lymes--my parents live in a VERY wooded area where deer & ticks are VERY HIGH!

Anyways, was just wondering if anyone has experienced this or any other symptoms, or has been treated for Lymes, not knowing 100% that it is Lymes...

Any input is appreciated!

My FMIL was diagnosed with the same thing...she went to a neurologist that did 1000 tests - results were inconclusive, so she was sent to an epilepsy specialist at LIJ. They put her on anti-seizure meds, and they're working well. No Lyme Disease symptoms, no seizures.

I tested positive for Lymes Disease years ago and dont know where the hell I would have gotten it from. I late went to a neurologist who thinks it was a false positive. The test is inconclusive most of the time. Have they checked her for arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis?
