Mac users: Tekserve vs. iResQ
So MONTHS ago I broke the screen on my iBook. Apple quoted me $750 plus shipping to fix it. I cracked up laughing. iResQ charges something like $380 including shipping there and back. Tekserve won't give an estimate. I have to bring it there, which is really annoying. However, I've actually herd of tekserve before and it's a brick and mortar here in NYC which makes me feel better.
has anyone used any of these services?
On the other hand a new macbooks is only $1300.

I used tec serve to fix my iBook. I also broke my screen. (laptop fell off the couch and hit the corner of the coffee table!) they were great but they were very expensive IMO. I paid something like $780.

If I had known of iResQ, I would have checked them out. It was waaaay to much money to have spent IMO.
Good luck and let me know how it goes!

I only found out about iResQ becuase I was looking for just the part on ebay and they were selling it, then I checked out their website to see if they were reputable and found out that they do repairs. It seems pretty legit. When I got my computer back I will let you know how it went for future reference. I got my iBook in 2005. Otherwise it would be so tempting to buy a new one..but I still feel like my computer is new!
