Mail forwarding problems?
My husband put in our mail forwarding order effective the day after Thansgiving. We officially moved out that Saturday.
I never got my security check back and my landlord said that it was in our old mailbox along with three other envelopes. Gee, thanks for writing "Forward mail to new address" or something on it. The guy's a jerk and won't do it.
I called the USPS and they said "no guarantees". Excuse me, the guy goes to the house daily, why can't he pick it up and forward it since it's your screwup in the first place?
Has anyone had this before and did you just go back and get the mail? Or did some nice person forward it to you?

Re: Mail forwarding problems?
My dad had to go back and get the mail for me and forward it. Sorry you had to go through this!
did you process for your mail to be forwarded or a change of address?

Re: Mail forwarding problems?
The people who occupied our apartment after us left the mail for the mailman and wrote "incorrect address" on it. I eventually received it.
For the security deposit - they asked me for my new address to forward it along to.

Re: Mail forwarding problems?
oh they are awful at forwarding.
Luckily I moved from my moms house, so I still get my mail.
but we both have first names that start with M - so sometimes they forward me HER mail instead

Yeah that process never goes as smooth as it should. I still get mail sent to my old add and luckily a co-worker of mine lives upstairs from the apartment we were in and checks now and then for us.

Re: Mail forwarding problems?
Yep, we had a problem. After a few weeks I went to my old town post office and they had it there. Apparently my paperwork never went through so I had to fill it all out again. It all started getting forwarded the next week.
I would definately suggest calling or going to your old post office.

Re: Mail forwarding problems?
Happens all the time. Your individual mailman isn't the one who takes care of the forwarding. Once the mail is delivered, he isn't going to take it back out of the mailbox. The problem happened when it was being sorted.

Re: Mail forwarding problems?
Our mail situation was a huge problem. We lived ion the 2nd floor of a 2 family house. At one point downstairs stopped their mail for a month due to domestic issues (the wife getting the husbands' mail, etc.) BUT they filled it out for the household & WE stopped getting our mail as well DH said to fill out our change of address as an individual...so we both did & then did the same for baby. HOWEVER, now it seems sometimes if the mail is addressed to Mr. & Mrs. it still goes to the old address or XXX Family to the old address. Thankfully we've gotten mail that the landlord has written, pls forward & we've gotten it. It's frustrating though.

I understand it's not his error. He shouldn't have the mail in the first place.
By why isn't he going to take the mail out? If someone wrote 'return to sender' or something on it, shouldn't he take it? Like it takes so much effort to pick it up...
Our mailman s*cked when we were there anyway. We had to redeliver mail to our neighbors (on different STREETS mind you) at least twice a month. I watched him walk through and stomp on my tulips one saturday. We'd go 4 days with no mail and suddenly have so much it almost didn't fit in the mailbox.
Yeah, not loving the USPS these days. But I suppose they've got me by the balls, don't they?

Re: Mail forwarding problems?
We moved in May and some of our mail still goes to my old place. My grandma lives next dorr to where I used to live so they give it to her but its so annoying that some of it still doesnt get to us. And I am talking 1st class postage regular mail, not catalogs and junk.
