Re: Make Up- designer vs drug store
I keep going back to Revlon liquid foundations (Colorstay and New Complexion).
I have yet to find a loose powder from the drugstore that I like.
Maybelline has me hooked when it comes to mascara. Covergirl for their clear mascara.
Revlon for their eyelash curler. (I tried other high end curlers, but they didn't work well with my eye size/shape.)
If something catches my eye or I read consistent positive reviews, then I'm open to trying it regardless of where it's sold.

Re: Make Up- designer vs drug store
I have to say I have tried SO many BB creams and I keep coming back to the Garnier one. I just bought smashbox- it was $39 for ONE ounce. And it suckked. Garnier- $11.99 for 2.5 ounces. And nothing works on my VERY bad skin like it does.
I do like Bare Minerals.
Other than that- I don't see a huge difference in the designer brands- in fact, some of them are WORSE for me than the cheaper brands.

Make Up- designer vs drug store
Bare minerals for pretty much everything. Dr Jart for BB cream. I also just discovered e.l.f. At Target. The liquid eye liner & mascara are pretty darn fabulous!!! And so CHEAP!!!

Re: Make Up- designer vs drug store
I have never found drug store makeup that I liked. I waste my money when I try.
I do not wear mascara but I know a lot of people who do swear by Maybelline.
I do wear some things from Mary Kay and that is priced a bit better than department store makeup. It always seems to be in between drug store and the higher end makeups.

I agree with this regarding Mary Kay-I really like and wear a lot of their stuff! I have also found a lot of Avon products that are nice as eyeshadow and mascara!
I also do like the Revlon colorstay coverup as well

These are my drugstore holy grails: Loreal Voluminous Mascara, Loreal Linear Intense liquid eyeliner, Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation for oily skin & Rimmel translucent stay matte powder as my setting powder.

Re: Make Up- designer vs drug store
I tend to be a fair mix of both...
I do buy mascara (love a ton of Maybelline's) and lipstick at CVS.
As far as high end - can't live without - items:
Clinique's City Base Foundation - ONLY thing that works on my dry flaky skin.
Lorac or Bobbi Brown or UD eyeshadows - you CANNOT find the same level pigmentation in drugstore brands.
Nars Orgasm Blush or Nars Multiple in Maui
Stila Kajal Eyeliner - I have never had an eyeliner glide on so easily.
UD - Primer Potion
For a quick face - Benefit's Big Beautiful Eyes with their boing concealer and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer with Tarte Cheek Stain in True Love or Benefit's Benetint.
Oh and the E.L.F. studio line brushes are AWESOME for the price at Target.

I bought it based on a rec here and love it!
I go through phases depending on my budget.
I love Laura mercier tinted moisturizer but also use neutriogena
Mascara and eyeliner I ONLY buy at drugstores.
Eye shadow I love MAC, and I live by their paint pots and pigments. but I also love Aveda palettes. They are super!!!
Blush is always high end. Love Nars Orgasm and Mac mineral blush.

My foundation and blush is from Channel. Eyeshadow I mix and lip gloss I happen to like some of the drug store brands.
Chanel has the best eyeshadows!!! I have been on such a budget this year that it was back to the drugstore ! other than Dior Show mascara I still find L'Oreal to be the best!
I am hearing about Maybelline Fiber mascara now getting raves

everything i own make up wise is MAC..except for mascara
i swear, i have tried EVERY designer mascara possible, and nothing beats loreal and maybeline
i just bought a new MAC mascara to give it a shot, and i hate it-it's horrible
This exactly. Btw... I do love loreal. Especially since they are also Lancôme and Kiel. I've tested there stuff out and given opinions in their studies and get a ton of free loreal, Lancôme and Kiel stuff. Love!
