Im going to be making chocolate flower lollipops for my centerpiece for my dd baptism, and i wanted to know:

How long does the chocolate have to sit in the mold for?
Do you put the mold in fridge after chocolate is put in?

Are you doing one color or different?

The chocolate only has to set in the mold for 10 mins. Yes put it in the fridge to harden

Re: making chocolate lollipops BTDT ??

I make chocolate lollipops all the time. So easy.

Melt the chocolate (I use the microwave- do 1 minute at a time- stir in between).

Put the lollipop sticks in the mold. Pour the chocolate (be sure it is smooth) into the molds). Tap the molds down onto the counter to get rid of any air bubbles.

Then I put the molds into the freezer on a FLAT surface. (I have a bottom drawer freezer, so makes it really easy). I let them harden for about 10-15 minutes (depending how deep and large the mold cavities are).

Take out from freezer and LIGHTLY TAP out the chocolate onto wax paper. Let the chocolate pops sit on the wax paper for a while (about an hour) before you put them inot the cello bags, or else a condensation will form inside the baggies.

Can't wait to see pics when they are completed!

I bought a paintbrush, i was going to paint on the color and then put the chocolate on top of it.

I have done that but the color isnt as vibrant as when you paint it on after the chocolate has hardened.

yes, you have to be really patient and make sure you have a very fine brush for those small areas. when you are done place back in fridge. what I do is I leave a plate with wax paper on it in the fridge. then only 1 at a time I take out a lollipop place it on the cold surface and then begin to paint. when done I put back in fridge.

I'll see if I can find a picture, but I did the same thing for my DD Christening.

I made crosses, tulips, calla lily's, daffodils and roses. If you need any molds let me know. You can borrow them.

As for the centerpiece. This is what I did.

I bought terra cotta pots, put a ribbon around it and made a bow. Then I put styrophome in the middle and fake grass on top of it. I pushed all of the lollipops in so they looked like flowers. They were great!!!!

I bought molds from AC Moore yesterday of Flowers (my dh family is not catholic, thats why we didnt do crosses) and i bought a glass vase and styrofoam. Im putting the sytrofoam in vase and decorating vase with lace, and ill put the lollipops in styrofoam so they stick out of vase.

I bought my chocolate from a Grandma's candy kitchen on wantagh ave, south of sunrise hwy. I was about to buy from ac moore, but i started talkign to this little old lady, and she said that the chocolate here wasnt that good, and told me about this place. I was looking for it before going to ac moore, but i thought it was on hicksville road, (wrong road --oops)

eta: baptism is in feb. at St rapheals church in east meadow.

grandmas kitchen is the only place I buy all of my chocolate making supplies- did you see all of those molds they have Chat Icon and their chocolate is YUMMY!!!!!
I have tried the wilton from stores- BLAH totally NOT the same taste.
Im pretty sure they make it in the back by the chocolate area.

also for cp if you want something tall- use the styrofoam cones, paint them or sparkle them hot glue them to a round base- cover the base with anything from raffia with small buds of flowers to wrapping paper or cellophane paper and insert the lollipops in that way, if you dont have too many to a table then in between make bows and hot glue them inbetween to make it look full. Re: making chocolate lollipops BTDT ??

you put the mold in the freezer.. leave them there for a while.. if you pick up the tray and jiggle it a little and the chocolate looks solid and doesnt move at all then theyre probably done!

Thanks Chat Icon I love making them. I used white chocolate and then dyed them to the color I wanted. So much easier then brushing the color on (my opinion).

I did that for DS's christening last Sept. and they all melted in the car while we were in church. I was so upset because I spent so much time painting the pots and making the chocolates with DH. So we had no centerpieces.
So my advice would be to assemble them at the reception location and keep the chocolates in a cooler with some ice packs so that, that doesn't happen to you.
