Making meat for baby?? How do you do it?
I have been making about half of my DD's baby food - mainly veggies and it has been going great. But now that we are on meats I am having some trouble. I bought some organic chicken and broiled it, then cooled it, then pureed it in the blender and added some water to add moisture. She ate a little but didn't seem to like the texture.
Then I froze some in ice cube trays and tried again another day - when I defrosted/heated the cubes in the microwave it came out gross.
So my questions are: What meats do you use? chicken (on the bone, cutlets?) other meats? How do you cook it? How do you puree it? I have a stick blender, food chopper and regular blender. Do you freeze any or make it each time they eat? How do you re-heat it?
TIA - I have been enjoying making her other foods but this has been bad so far.

I haven't started meats yet, but I was planning on using a baby food mill rather than puree the meat.
I don't think I'll freeze meats, though I do freeze fruits and veggies that I make her.

Re: Making meat for baby?? How do you do it?
Okay, I will try to help you with this...
I make things with ground beef a lot, so I brown it in a pan, drain it, let it cool, then I give it a whizz for maybe a minute in the food processor. This makes the bobbly bits smaller. When I use chicken, I tend to cook the chicken and then cut it up into teensy pieces.
I freeze it in those little pots made by tupperware that you can throw away and also in Annabel Karmel ice cube trays (which are quite big). I do a big batch and freeze it. I stick it in the microwave for about 2 minutes and then it needs a good stir!
One of my favorite dishes to make is Tasty Rice with Meat. I don't do measures, but what I do is I take a whole bunch of veggies (zucchini, onion, carrot, celery, mushrooms, peppers) and I blitz them in the food processor so they resemble bread crumbs (ie really tiny), then I saute them until they are soft but not colored. Then I mix them with the ground beef that has also been blitzed. I add some tomato sauce (usually just plain passata) a splash of Worcestershire sauce, some ketchup (just cos the kid loves it) and some frozen peas and corn. I then mix in some cooked rice (usually Basmati as its what I have in the house) then I mix it all together et voila! Load and loads of veggies, rice and meat! All the food that a kiddy needs to survive!!
its a big favorite in this neck of the woods!!!
eta...also I do fish, I just microwave it, flake it to make sure there are no bones, and serve as is. Easy peasy! I do make chicken soup also and give him pieces of chicken to chomp on, its nice and soft when its boiled.

this sound gross but I boil chicken breast or turkey breast in chicken broth on the stove top. you can make a chicken vegetable soup-add any vegetables you'd like-boil till tender, the drain a little of the broth&blend w/a chopper or blender to desired consistency- I make extra so I can freeze in ice cube trays. then if you're going out w/baby, put a couple of the frozen soup cubes in a plastic bowl w/the lid,and then microwaved to warm it up.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll have to try them.
Anyone else? I am really having a hard time with chicken.
