Mammograms.....

Have you had one and at what age did you get it done???

I horrible about this, but i never check my breasts like the doctor says. Are you girls good about checking for lumps???

I only ask because my mom keeps bugging me to get a mammogram done. Im 34.

I had one done at 26 and one done at 30. My dr. tells me I'm just naturally "lumpy," but when one really stands out, she sends me to get it checked. I'm not 35 yet, so I don't go yearly. It isn't a ton of fun, but I don't think it's NEARLY as bad as some people say it is. If I were you, I'd just go & get it over with. Once you go once, it'll be easier to do, and you'll stop worrying about it.

i had my first one at 29,(my mom passed away from breast cancer at age 47), i go every year for a mammogram and a breast sonogram. i am 32 years old.

I didn't do well at this at all..from the start.

When I turned 40, my ob/gyn pushed me to go for the mammo...she'd write the name of the referral on her scripts sheet for me at every routine visit. I delayed it for 2 years because I was so afraid.

I finally went to get the baseline mammo and have been going on schedule 3 times now (they give me an ultrasound too because of density of tissue). I'm so proud.

I do realize now this could be life-saving...Afterwards, I feel calm and happy I went. I feel so stupid for delaying it.

Because of my family history, I had my first at 28.

I dont care what people say.. it hurts I am pretty small up top and I think that makes it alot worse.

I just switched doctors and my new practice requires women over the age of 35 have one done. I'm 36 and will be going for my first one this Saturday.

I am 37, had my first mammo in July. I didn't think it was too painful.
There was an area of concern and I had an ultrasound. The dr was still concerned so she sent me to a surgeon who wound up doing a needle biopsy. Turned out it was a lymphnode, better safe than sorry

Had my first at 38..had an abnromality. had a biospy..pre-cancerous. They removed the cells. Now I go once a year for a sono and once a year for a mammo.

I'm overdue!

I have had mammos since my mom got diagnosed. I think I was 26. I get them annually, with sonos. I have my physical every 6 mos. (I space out my annuals for my GP & GYN). I am pretty good about self exams, especially after BFing DS.
