Man sues 1-800-flowers for revealing his affair

This guy is suing for $1 million after his wife (who he is divorcing) found out he sent flowers to someone else.

Next time, use your local business, I guess

Re: Man sues 1-800-flowers for revealing his affair

hmm, while I agree that he is a dip$hit for being a cheating SOB, they really should not have given out the info if he asked to keep it private right? I think they were wrong

He is still a SOB though Chat Icon

Yeah I saw that!
I can't believe they were even on the Today Show. This guy cheats on his wife, he gets outed and now is on National tv. What a world we live in.Chat Icon

Re: Man sues 1-800-flowers for revealing his affair

I work for an online retail business and I could totally see how this mishap would happen.

He is defintiely an azz in the first place but I do think 800flowers is at fault to a degree...maybe not 1mil wrong, but wrong nonetheless.

Re: Man sues 1-800-flowers for revealing his affair

There has to be a reason why 1-800-FLOWERS has a privacy policy in the first place. I am sure A LOT of their business comes from philandering men and women and it comes down to dollars and cents for them. They broke a policy and as much as he was an idiot for cheating, I think he may be right.

ETA:

I bet they lose a lot of business now.

I agree.....whether we think he is a jerk or not is not the issue.

Re: Man sues 1-800-flowers for revealing his affair

The moral issue is not the problem. It's the privacy policy. They should have never disclosed the information to his wife when she asked for details since she was not the "customer". The fact that he was cheating (although a total jerk!) has nothing to do with the issue.

I saw it too, that's what made me post it.

The thing that cracks me up about this story most is that he is suing 1-800-flowers for alerting his soon to be ex-wife that he is having a secret affair, but now he is on the Today show talking about it.

I have heard so many complaints about 1-800-flowers that I wouldn't use them anyway, but this might hurt their business.

My question with this story, is how did they have his address to send the thank you note to, if he didn't give it to them in the first place? Maybe he should have updated his account info before ordering the flowers. Chat Icon

Actually, the privacy policy states that they won't share his account information with 3rd parties, which means renting his name out to other companies. Legally your spouse is not considered a 3rd party. 800-Flowers did nothing wrong, this is just another stupid case that will tie up the court system.

Actually any person but you & 1-800-FLOWERS is a third party. The wife is a 3rd party. She could have easily pretended she was her husband if he had a non-gender name. I have to do it all of the time for my boss.

ITA. Now I believe if he used a CC or mean of payment with both their names (shared accounts), she could have a right to the information. Definitivelly an interesting legal case.

Re: Man sues 1-800-flowers for revealing his affair

it was brought up--- ironic that he is suing 1-800-flowers for breach of policy, when he cheated on his wife, another breach (of marriage)

What a moron. I'm GLAD he got caught. GOOD for him.

Why so much media attention on this though? They are feeding into his ego, imho.

Wow. Hadn't heard that story. What an a$$. That being said, the a$$ has a point - 1-800-flowers really messed up. Regardless of his sleazy actions that didn't follow through on their privacy policy. But, hey, karma's a ***** that way.
