Did the DOH say no contact tracing? Legally I do not think they can just stop because the numbers need to be reported. If they can, then great! I'll be harassing my BOE lol.

Just got a notification my school is no longer contract tracing either. I’m assuming that means no more quarantines right??!!!
ETA : also wondering if that means my kid is out sick I don’t need to provide a negative Covid test anymore

Re: Mask Mandate Extended in NY
I am not sure. Our district stopped contact tracing in January but, then they were talking about quarantining due to unmasked lunch exposure... So I'm not sure.

Yes, Suffolk DOH did.
Last night our Board of Education adopted a “no contact tracing” policy. As a result, our schools will no longer investigate or report close contacts for quarantine to the SCDOH. We also will no longer call parents or send letters reporting positive cases.
This is a result of the SCDOH moving away from “mandated” contact tracing to “recommended” on their website

Yes! I am soooo skeeved out by those filthy, ,dirty moist masks. I NEVER touch my face and nose more than when I'm forced to wear one so I can't imagine the amount of germ spreading they cause- especially on kids!!!

I wonder if they did a survey of the kids (and adults) who never wash their mask and if they have gotten covid and how bad, they could see how we ALL need germs to live and survive illnesses.

If I never got Covid, nobody will. My habits aren't exactly.... precautious. Thank the Lord for a strong immune system is all I can say!

I don't even want to touch my son's mask at the end of the day, it's always so............ wet. Like W-T-F is he doing all day in that thing???? LOL
I was talking to this sweet old lady yesterday and she was double masked, whatever........ to each his own, buuuuut her outside mask was so dirty and dingy. It was really gross and unfortunately, I see that so often. Just ew.

Re: Mask Mandate Extended in NY
Yeah people are not using the masks as they should be... one time use on the disposables, washing your cloth mask after each use, not touching it or taking it on and off. It's really not good

Not in our district. Once the DOH made it optional, some schools were still doing it

We indeed need germs. We have this wrong idea that germs are always bad, bad, bad and we must exterminate all of them at all cost when in actuality germs are a necessity to maintain a balanced ecosystem (microbiome included). They need us as much as we need them to survive and each has a role. Killing them has never been the answer for improving health, on the contrary, trying to eradicate them is what makes things like the superbug threat possible.
