Mass movement to Florida
I just found out that BIL is moving to Florida. Dh and I know this is a good thing for him, his GF and their daughter, but we are so sad to see them go. So many of our family and friends have left NY for FL.  BIL had been thinking it over for a long time, and now he has a job lined up, a place to stay, etc. He leaves May 8th, which is a LOT sooner than either DH or I expected.
This news has made me so grateful we had our wedding. I think it will be the last time our families are whole.
On the bright side, we have a lot of people to vacation with.  
Sorry for the ramble.

I’m sorry you’re sad about your family leaving, I can relate.
Sadly, NY has lost more people in the past 5 years than any other area in the country. Salaries have not kept up with the exorbitant cost of living in the NY Metro area and that has caused hundreds of thousands of people a year to leave (mostly young couples).

It's hard to see them leave but like you said....you'll have a lot of open invites to warm sunny Florida.

I know how you feel- in a few weeks I will be the only one left in NY
my Dad is moving to Florida
My Brother lives there already
and my sister is moving to Maryland- in about 3 weeks!

I feel your pain. Its always hard to see a loved one move so far away. But keep in mind, this will be a better situation for your BIL.

I noticed this last year with some friends/co-workers. My friend actually is working on getting her Real Estate License in FL. Her agent told her that the market is getting tough...there's not enough homes for the demand.
Her home is amazing too!

I wish someone in my family would move to Florida...that way it would make it easier for us to move. But they all seem planted on LI and when I mention anything about DH and I moving any farther away (we are in NJ) I get the Jewish mother's guilt trip
