Massages, Facials, Manicures, & Pedicures
Did/can you do any spa treatments while you're pregnant? I have a "spa day" already booked for next weekend with some of my friends, but I'm nervous now and thinking maybe I should back out. Are any of these treatments OK in the beginning of pregnancy?

I've gotten pedi's every 2 weeks since becomming pregnant. They are heavenly especially when your feet swell as much as mine do!!!

I don't know about the massage unless it's a prenatal one- depends on how big your belly is too! I got pedicures every 2 weeks during my last pregnancy and I was fine- although I heard that they can help you go into labor (if you are far along)- something with the whole reflexology thing... but I wouldn't worry! Have fun!

As long as the person who is giving you the massage knows your pregnant it's fine. I love to be pampered esp. while pregnant! Go have a great time!

Well, the massage is out now... I called the spa and they said they won't touch me if I'm newly pregnant. Oh well, I'd rather be cautious than pampered, I suppose.

All are fine while pregnant. Many spas/LMT's will not massage you before the 12th week. After that though, it's a GO!!! (and you SHOULD indulge) . Just make sure the massage therapist is NY State licensed AND is certified in Prenatal massage, many spas will tell you they are, but definetly ask the therapist who is working on you. Enjoy!

I had manicures, pedicures and a prenatal massage during the pregnancy and the massage was so nice. I had it at around 28 weeks.
