Re: Master/Main Bathroom

Definitely not wallpaper! Never understood why ppl put that in bathrooms with showers/tubs since it gets so humid in there...

I'll go with tile just in bath/shower area, why spend extra on tiles for areas that don't need them?

My dad redid the bathroom in our old house and did tile floor to ceiling and it looked amazing!

I'd probably go with tiles in the bath/shower, and just paint the walls. I think you can't go wrong with that, and it's more economical than wall to ceiling tiles, especially if you have a larger bathroom.

You could also paint the walls and then do a tile inset in the middle -- e.g. a glass tile inset that runs around the perimter.

If you do half tile and half paint, I would keep it really clean and simple with the tiles, like white subway tiles.

Another option would be doing white wainscoting on the bottom half of the wall and paint on top, if you like a cottage type look. I have that in my half bath and love it.

I would probably stay away from wallpaper in the full bath, but I think a bold wallpaper -- e.g. a toile pattern -- can look awesome in half bath. That's a design trend I am seeing more and more.

I did tile halfway up the walls. And full tile in the shower and shower ceiling.

I don't think it ends up being too busy. we have a 6x6 tile up the walls, with a mosaic glass tile strip and a marble capping over it.

In my hall bath I have white subway tile halfway up iwth a strip of glass tile.

Although paint is fine s in its not a real problem to have in a bathroom, i feel it looks plain.

To save money, and I like the look, when we redo our MB we are only doing tile in the shower and on the floors.

In the small bathroom we just did last year, we did tile in the shower and floor only and painted. If we tiled anymore than that I think it would have bee too much for that small space in the colors we chose. For a larger bathroom, I really like tile in the bath/shower and then halfway up the wall and the top half painted. Not a fan of wallpaper in the bathroom... we have it from the previous owners and I am dying to take it down.
