SUNY Old Westbury and SUNY Stony Brook or perhaps CUNY Queens . . . going these routes will save him some money.Chat Icon

Re: Masters in Secondary Ed

I went to Dowling.

I started when I was working full time (Started with night and weekend classes)

They offer a nice selection of winter and summer classes.

I finished in less than a year.

Old Westbury doesn't have a graduate program for education. They only have an accounting grad program.

Dowling is in Oakdale or Brookhaven

Re: Masters in Secondary Ed

Queens and Stony Brook both have programs for secondary ed (SS)

If he wants to go a little faster, he can look into the certification program Queens has - he can get certified and then work on his masters while teaching (if he has 36 undergrad credits in SS- history, poli sci, geography, psych, soc, econ, anthro)

the benefit there is that if you are working as a teacher, you can dedecut your masters on your taxes.

I went to Dowling, the campus is beautiful and safe, I had to take a lot of night classes. Great secondary ed program, the only downfall is, it's pricey!

Re: Masters in Secondary Ed

I went throught the program at St. Johns. It was very $$$. However, they do offer classes at both the Queens and Manhattan campuses for secondary ed. Other than the cost, the program was very good.
