Master's Salary Increase question...
I have a question for you girls....does anyone know if districts are *mandated* by the state or so to give employees a salary increase once the employee has obtained their master's degree?
despite "paper work" that needs to be fillled out for the district, can an employee still be entitled to the pay for their degree?
any info would be helpful!

To my knowledge, the state is not mandated to give someone a raise just because they completed their master's degree. You must file the proper paperwork with the district in order to receive a raise.

yes....
and districts also have the right to not put you on a Masters salary differntial if your Masters is not related to the area in which you are teaching. (i.e. if you're teaching Spanish and you have a Masters in Philosophy). My husband has a JD and NYC only gave him Masters level salary, while a law degree is a doctral level degree.

check the union contract though - there could be something in there about requiring it.
