Maternity leave for new employee
Quick question to you experts... if a woman becomes pregnant soon after being hired, is she covered for maternity leave through FMLA, or is does she have to work a certain amount of time before that kicks in?
TIA!

I believe the law is that you have work there for 12 months before you are covered under FMLA

12 months and 1,250 hours.
ETA: Of course, the company can decide to grant the leave anyway, but then they have to do the same for all employees.

i am pretty sure it's 12 months OR 1250 hours, that's what my FMLA leave packet says anyway.

It's 12 months AND 1,250 hours. Employers can offer more generous benefits, but under FMLA, an employee is covered after working for at least 12 months and 1,250 hours.

The federal law is AND, but a lot of employers choose OR because it's an extra way to cover their butts.
