May be a controversial topic but just wanted others opinions!
Hey ladies!! I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant with #2! Can't believe how fast it's going!! So I obv know that tanning salons are dangerous bc of various reasons! I worked at one when I was in hs so I know all about it! Now in the summer I tan very easily and would tan in moderation outside while pregnant and would make sure I stay cool and would cover my stomach.
Now my husbands brother is getting married end of March and I feel sooooo pasty white and I hate it!!! My mother in law just bought a tanning package and while we were there I noticed they had a new bed that just does your face and chest! What are your thoughts on tanning while pregnant in a bed that would just do the face???
I'm not saying I'm going to do it just wanted to here some others thoughts or experiences with this! Thanks!

I have never been to a tanning salon, but I can't imagine tanning your face and chest could have any negative effect on the baby.
I would just be careful you don't get overheated, and I found my skin was super sensitive during pregnancy so I would watch that too.

It's probably pretty much the same as tanning outside. Jusr stay cool. Overheating would be my concern.

I know they have organic spray tans. Maybe that's an option?

I wouldn't, not because of a risk to pregnancy but of the general risk that comes with tanning. I admit I love being tan and will lay out, with sunblock, in the summer. But I'd rather be pasty than go into a tanning booth.

Same! It has nothing to do with being pregnant and tanning -- I am firmly against tanning in general due to its health and safety risks. I'd be more likely to use a self-tanner or get an organic spray tan.

I used to tan alot, but obviously now I know I shouldn't be... there's alot of airbrush places you can go to with a technician that actually sprays it on. Alot of them use all organic ingredients now that are safe for pregnancy

Re: May be a controversial topic but just wanted others opinions!
I'd buy a good self-tanner or get a spray tan if they're safe during pregnancy, not sure. I guess if you normally feel okay about going tanning then I don't see how it would be much worse during pregnancy. I'm personally very much against tanning in the sun or tanning beds because I'm already at high risk for melanoma & other skin cancers so I won't do it pregnant or not. I'd rather just be pale, to me it's not worth the very real danger. But I can't see how tanning while pregnant would be any worse than tanning at any other time so if you normally go I'd think it would be the same.

I would personally get airbrushed. I would just feel uncomfortable going to a tanning salon while PG even though the risks are probably similar if not the same to laying out.

Thanks everyone for all the responses!! I don't really feel comfortable going to the tanning salon when pregnant since I don't use tanning beds anymore when not pregnant! I think I'm going to look into a self tanner!! Thanks again!!!

Yes, this is what I would do. So many places offer it now and there are good deals on groupon.
