May be paranoid but does anyone know about (female) cancer screenings?
I am a paranoid person re: health. I know REs *say* there is no link btw fertility drugs and cancer but I cannot put my faith in that. What do they care if I get cancer 10 years down the road. I just cannot believe that there are no ill effects from all of the injections that turbo charge our ovaries and make our progesterone higher etc. Of course that does not mean I will stop doing it until I get a baby out of it. But, I am no longer satisfied with a regular old pap as means of determining whether there are any issues KWIM? Does anyone know any additional screenings or blood tests that can be requested to rule out cervical, breast, uterine or ovarian cancer? I would like to start doing something like that yearly, even if I have to pay for it. I plan on being around a long time to enjoy this life!

I'm sure there are tests. I think your OB would be a good place to start. Let us know what you find out.

Check out BRAC analysis. I think it screens for ovarian and maybe breast cancer?? I had the same feelings as you, my mom had ovarian cancer so I was very nervous to overstimulate my ovaries. I made the decision to do IVF instead of doing IUI cycles in part because I didn't want to be on meds for too many cycles (plus IUI wasn't a good option for us for other reasons). I haven't done the BRAC test myself, but I have it in the back of my mind. The only thing to remeber is that it's a screening test- it may show that you are predisposed to a cancer but that doesn't mean you have it or even that you will ever get it. So it's kind of a double edged sword.

And really a pap can only detect cervical issues. OB's no nothing of your uterus or ovaries. Maybe when we are done we should just get them removed. Honestly that thought has crossed my mind (about the uterus and ovaries). Its very scary.

Re: May be paranoid but does anyone know about (female) cancer screenings?
Good point. We don't know what this will do to us.
One of the reasons I am going to see a medical oncologist is to have a risk assessment done. I had a pre-cancerous issue in my left breast 4 years ago, I don't have it in my family and it was removed completely. Before Dr. Davis jacks me up on estrogen and other hormones, he wants me to have this done..do no harm first. He actually said the synthetic hormones are better in my case but wants to confirm it.
Normally women are 1 in 9 for bc. I am 1 in 7. Who knows if after doing this I could be 1 in 3. If that's the case then I may have to rethink this whole thing. Turbo charging your ovaries is not normal..it has to have some effects down the road.
If you have it in the family I would have a BRAC analysis done. It will tell you if you have the gene.
