maybe a dumb question about fussy babies and daycare...
does your child has to be fairly well "behaved" to go to day care? I'm asking because my 3 month old son is very high maintenance and is cranky and crying quite often, so I'm wondering what the care givers do all day with these children? I assume they can't focus all their attention on one baby so do they just let them sit in a crib and cry?

I work in a daycare center, and the children do not need to be "well behaved", they are only children. I am sure that the center will give plenty of love to your child and yes sometimes may leave them in the crib to cry for a little bit, which is fine. But I am sure you can call to check in and see how the day is going.

Not a dumb question.
At that young, they don't need to be well behaved at all. They are just babies acting purely on instinct.
I think their behavior becomes more of an issue when you start looking into preschools. But even then it isn't too much of an issue (unless you are in Manhattan where it is insane!!!)

oh don't worry about that at all. DC will be well stimulated & looking around a lot to keep busy. and DC will cry. that's just the way it goes at daycare. he'll/she'll adjust quickly.

thanks for the responses
I just didn't want them to kick me out of day care once they find out my son doesn't sleep all day and won't sit still for a second!

Re: maybe a dumb question about fussy babies and daycare...
My daughter was very stranger phobic for a LONG time. It took from April of last year until October of this year (granted she doesn't go in the summer) for her to warm up to one of the new teachers that started. That teacher just didn't handle my daughter unless one of the other teachers couldn't get her until my daughter warmed up. Now my DD loves her and always talks about her. Daycare centers are used to things that are typical to little kids.

i don't think its dumb either - I have the same concerns and dd will be starting daycare next week....she used to be a terror all day and I was so worried but lately she has really chilled out and is one happy monkey! they are used to it from what I have seen and are very loving!!!

Re: maybe a dumb question about fussy babies and daycare...
I also had a fussy, cranky, cried all the time baby. She started daycare at 4 months and was kicked out at 7 1/2 months because she wanted to be held all the time and disrupted other babies.
I think certain settings work for some babies and not others- dd was high maintenance and did much better in a setting that catered to that.
ETA: I wish I knew that before I sent her to begin with, that is why your question is not dumb at all.
