Maybe you can help with my DS's sleep problems

DS is almost 6 months and he is in daycare from 730-530. Most days he only naps for them about an hour. I know he needs more sleep than that.
When he gets home he is so cranky that we give him some jarred food and a bath and then he passes out around 7. He falls asleep before we can give him a bottle so we know he will wake up at some point for a bottle.
On a good night he will wake up around 1 and have a bottle and go back to sleep until around 530 or so. So he is still not getting that much sleep.
We have tried to give him a bottle at 7 to try and avoid this but he either doesnt take it or if he does he still wakes up so it doesnt seem like it helped.
I know part of him waking is habit. We have recently started to have him sleep on his tummy to see if that helps him sleep longer but it doesnt. If we have him on his back his arms are wailing all over the place so that wakes him up and if I swaddle him he does get his arms out of it anyway.
I want to try CIO soon but when he wakes up now and cries for a bit we get him very quickly and he still wakes up DD. He also has a bad cough so I know this doesnt help his sleeping and I wont do CIO until he gets over it but I am exhausted.
So give me ideas ladies! Thanks

can you talk to your day care provider about helping him sleep more often when he is there? DD is 6 months and she takes 3 1hr naps a day

Re: Maybe you can help with my DS's sleep problems

what time does he get his last bottle at day care? I remember both Roman and Clover used to get a bottle around 5:00 at day care then they'd take a nap for about 40 minutes. When we got home they'd have dinner around 7 and then go down for the night around 8. Maybe try giving a bath in the morning and trying to keep him up a little later at night?

Re: Maybe you can help with my DS's sleep problems

we did CIO for the night last night, and we will be doing it for naps... can you try CIO for naps over the weekend? i am thinking that he doesn't nap at daycare because he cries and they pick him up. have you asked them specifically what happens when he doesn't nap?

sorry i am not the person to be giving advice i know Chat Icon but i am wondering what his daycare has to say Chat Icon
