MDNY or Empire blue cross...
Hey,
Trying to decide between the two health insurance companies..any opinions or if you have either do you recommend it.

I am going to say EMPIRE....havent had a problem. I was in Florida with MDNY and they didnt recognize the insurance for some reason and made me sign paperwork while in the hospital stating I would pay for the stay. I was billed but then of course I transeferred the problem to MDNY.

I just switched from MDNY to Empire. They raised our rates mid year and when I was thinking about switching someone told me that MDNY isn't making any money and may be close to bankrupcy (how true that is I have no idea). I also know Empires network is a heck of a lit bigger than MDNY.

I was thinking about MDNY only because they have smart dent - discount on dental. I dont think empire has this.

WE have Empire BCBS. It's ok. They are slow as sh!t in paying claims though. They just paid one for Lauren's birth and she is 6 months old now.

Empire it has a large network and they have been quick to give me authorization when I needed it and in my case - has paid my claims quickly - when I went out of network I got paid back very quickly.
