Meat/protein ideas?
so far:
Tyson chicken tenders homemade meatballs Gerber Graduate pasta pick ups in spinach/cheese, chicken/carrot, beef/tomato deli meat-turkey & ham
is this enough of a variety? I feel like all she eats is poultry!

Re: Meat/protein ideas?
sounds good to me. My ped said we would address meats at his 9 month visit when at 6 months I said I refused to feed him meat in a jar.

honestly, i would NEVER give my baby deli meat!! there is WAY too much sodium in them, among other additives

TY for your honesty.....I agree with you, but at the time I was desperate and it was a new product by Hormel with no preservatives.
As far as sodium goes....the Gerber meals have a bunch of sodium in them as well considering the small portion size.

Re: Meat/protein ideas?
I would love the Lentil Recipe.
Also, some stores now carry Applegate Farms cold cuts ( I know the ShopRite near me has it)...they are organic

Re: Meat/protein ideas?
What about if you make Turkey chili and put some beans in their and not make it spicey or hummus.

Re: Meat/protein ideas?
We don't feed Alex meat, so I've come up with a slew of alternatives... 2-3 times a week we feed her fish - ones that are significantly low in mercury, like Tilapia. I just broil or bake a piece with a little bit of seasoning, and she loves it... and here are some of the other protein options:
Veggie burger Veggie hotdog (low in sodium - high in protein because it's a soy product and tastes just like the real thing) Hummus (very good protein source - she loves it on some bread or pita) Rice and beans Minestrone soup Anything else with beans Eggplant with tofu (blend soft tofu with olive oil, dip skinned eggplant slices in the mixture and then in bread crumbs and bake for 30-40 mins) Anything with tofu (amazingly enough, Alex seems to like tofu)...

Re: Meat/protein ideas?
we don't give much meat at all, so we rely on tofu, eggs, beans/hummus.
FYI about eggplant: once it's cooked, there is no nutritional value.

True, but with the way I prepare it, she gets the tofu in a taste that's more palatable...
