Medela Pump Parts
Are the Medela pump parts dishwasher safe?? The book that came with my pump-in-style says to wash all parts in hot soapy water...it doesn't specify whether the parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher...
I'm trying to pump a lot now so I can build a freezer stash...it would be great if I didn't have to handwash the parts after every pumping session.
TIA!!!

Re: Medela Pump Parts
You don't have to! After you use them put them in a plastic baggie inthe fridge and at the end of the night wash them. This helps A LOT!!! I usualy rinsed them off and them put them in the fridge right away. I would imagine you can since you can use the microwave sterilizer bags, but trust me this will help save you a lot of time. I ep for 8wks and once I figued this out it saved me at least an hour a day in washing parts!

Thisis what I did as well! Rinse, then inot a ziplock until last pump session then I washed.
I didnt pump too much but had seen this tip on a EP site and thought it was a great help!

Re: Medela Pump Parts
You can rinse them off during the day and wash them with hot soapy water at night or put them in the top rack of the dishwasher. Do not wash the tubing!

Nope!!!! Man it was awesome when I figured this out! I would rinse and put them in a ziplock baggie and then wash them every night. I don't have a dishwasher, but you do so put them in before bed. It saves a lot of time and was great when I went back to work as well! The pp is right don't do the tubing...just the horns, and valves. I steamed my tubing once a week and hng it over my shower to dry out over night and it worked well for me. SO glad I can share this advice........it's amazing how something so simple can ease so much stress!

Re: Medela Pump Parts
Be careful with the small parts though - I only put the larger parts in and hand wash the smaller parts since one plastic piece fell to the bottom rack and totally melted. And get a spare set - that will make things easier too.

Re: Medela Pump Parts
I forgot, the Medela wipes are great for work too (in case you're not near a sink).
