Medical billing question

In December, Dh and I had to go to the doctor for services that we weren't sure were covered.

We agreed to pay for it out of pocket, and were told that if the insurance paid the claims, we would be refunded. I kept the recepits, but I didn't get this agreement in writing. (Stupid, I know.)

About two weeks ago, we got a copy of the claim in the mail from my insurance company detailing what they paid the doctor.

Now the doctor's office is just ignoring us. What can I do to get my $ back?

Sent a certified letter, return receipt requested, with a copy of the insurance paperwork. Explain the agreement and what happened in as much detail as possible (dates, etc.) State that you expect a response within 10 days after the date on the letter. If you don't get a response in 10 days, call. If they put you off or ignore your call, go down there in person with the paperwork.

In addition, I would contact your insurance company and let them know you paid out of pocket also. They may have better luck than you with contacting the doctor's office to get reimbursed from them and then send you a check.

Re: Medical billing question

Call the insurance co, send copies of the EOB to the dr. and the office manager and the girl in charge of billing with copies of your check or receipts. HTH It can be the paper work needs to get to them sometimes the patients gets the insurance before the dr's office. ( I have been doing billing for a very long time.)
