Message from LI IVF - Kind of Long...SORRY - UPDATED
I'm new to this scene and this is the first cycle that we were monitoring at LI IVF (they don't think I ovulate on a regular basis). The DR and I discussed that we would monitor this cycle and if nothing happened, then Clomid for the next cycle. I've been going every couple of days for bloodwork and a sono. The last two times I went, the NP said I had a follicle and today she said it looked good and it would probably produce an egg. She gave me a script for Ovidrel the other day.
Today, I get message that I should take the Ovidrel shot tomorrow and that they scheduled me for an insemination on Friday! We didn't discuss insemination for this cycle at all. I just left a message for the nurse on call so hopefully they will call back soon.
I'm nervous and just feel very overwhelmed and underinformed. Do you think they made a mistake?
Thanks for listening ladies and sorry this is so long...
UPDATE: The on-call nurse called me back and I explained the situation. She said it wasn't clear in my chart if I was going to do insemination or not this cycle. She said to take the shot tomorrow AM and then BD for three days. Then, call in 10-14 days if AF arrives or doesn't arrive. Thanks again!

Sorry---I am so new to this myself...I really can't give advice. I will say, though, that I hate when doctor's offices leave messages on a holiday eve, bc they're probably closed already and prob will be closed tom. Very frustrating.

Is there a reason you don't want to do an insemination?

Thanks...me too! I know they are open tomorrow from 8-9 for monitoring. If I didn't get a call back today, I was showing up tomorrow morning!

Re: Message from LI IVF - Kind of Long...SORRY - UPDATED
First off, I know how overwhelming beginning with a RE can be. The ovidrel shot is designed to force you to ovulate once your follicle(s) is large enough. The insemination is really no big deal and can slightly improve your chances of getting PG. Many times insemination, with or without medication, is a first treatment with a RE. That is probably why it was recommended to you. They probably also didn't want you to miss out on the chance to do an actual "treatment" this month. Best of luck!
