Usually used to treat type 2 diabetes but also spurs on ovulation if needed. All having to do with insulin levels.

Re: Metformin

My DH started it about a week ago for high insulin levels. We suspect this may have to do with his sperm morphology problem.

It is a medicine that is used for type II Diabetes. however it is also found to be useful for weight loss and several other problems.

He is not having any problem, but it can cause stomach upset. he takes it 2 times a day instead of once a day for this reason.

Good luck

Re: Metformin

I have PCOS but not having any issues with my insulin so they didn't but me on it. Two of my office mates also have PCOS adn they have both been put on metformin. Both of them had to get taken off of it within a week because they had diarreah so bad that they were almost dehydrated. I sure hope that you have better results with it than I did!

Sorry if TMI but I am having miserable stomach problems from it - I've literally been scared to leave the house and not be near my bathroom! I would say on average I've had a "bathroom emergency" about 4 times a day!Chat Icon Besides that, I have really bad pressure in my stomach and the worst stomach pains I think I've ever had! I am supposed to increase my dosage as of tomorrow night and have been waiting for the doctor to call me back - I'm not increasing until I talk to her because my body is not reacting to this well at all and the last thing I want to do is double my medication!
I also am completely exhausted but I also thing that's because I'm barely sleeping because of my stomach issues.
Hope this helps.

Michael- I just posted this about my office mates...I know they both got switched off it for similiar reasons...they were put on something else that of course I can't remember now. If you would like, I can ask them in the morning.

I am soo sorry you are having such a bad time with it.

Oh wow..I am so sorry you're having such a hard time with it. My doctor did warn me its very harsh on the stomach and it worried me, especially since my stomach is usually bad to begin with because of my nerves. I figured I will try it once all my blood work results come back and see what happens.

Michal..I hope your doctor can do something for you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Metformin

meridian is a drug for weight loss.

Are you taking the metformin with food? Dh takes it with meals, and he actually has been going to the bathroom less often than when he started it. I think he had IBS also, and maybe this is actually helping.
