I know I'm gonna get heat for this but it's just my opinion and of course you're all welcome to disagree, although starting a Duggar debate was not my intention, I just started typing a response and my feelings on the topic came out-
It is terrible for a baby to be born that premature and my heart goes out to the family during such a trying time BUT that said (and I don't feel bad really for saying it b/c this family chose to be in the limelight and therefore be judged)- I just don't think it is healthy or beneficial in any way to have 19 children. I know it seems like everyone is happy-go-lucky but is it REALLY possible for 19 kids to get enough attention from 2 parents? I know they make it seem like that on tv but I just think in reality a lot of those young children are getting their primary care from the older children who in turn are living a life quite ascribed to them instead of having a chance to really explore... I agree that they seem like a nice family with nice values, etc. but I just think 19 is over the line and becomes more of a novelty than just a really big family for a couple that loves and values what it means to have a big family... I think that is evidenced by the fact that she IS taking risks by attempting more children at an advanced age (43 I think)... That said, I hope this baby pulls through without suffering too many illls from such prematurity.
ITA!!
I mean it's GREAT that they can at least care for them financially and they all seem like good nice people... not like that other woman Suloman who can't financially support all her children ..... but still I have to agree with you on this!! I too feel as though the older children are raising the younger ones, and it's not fair to any of them. It's just easier to let the Dugger's slide because they take care of themselves and they seem like good people.
I also think her body might have had enough. That's A HUGE... ENORMOUS toll on your body!!!

i also agree with this as well... coming from not a huge but larger family (i am 1 of 5) i do think that some of my "parental relationships" have been slightly altered...add in the fact that my younger sister was very ill for the forst 10 years of her life and it explains alot to me.... i am actually very close to my oldest brother and, up until recently, my youngest brother... part of me really thinks that is because my oldest brother took care of me since when my sister was born i was 3 and he was 7 and then when my little brother was born i was 7... so i think that we spent more time as siblings who had to care for eachother at a young age...
it is a sad thing that a baby is born so young, but maybe the mom needs to give her uterus a rest

Oh my goodness!!!!
Did they say anything about the baby? I think that's right around the cusp of viability, right?
Could the baby be okay???
they said the baby is in the NICU for "extended observation"

Re: Michelle Duggar gives birth to #19 at 25 weeks
Somehow, I knew this was going to happen. I even told my MIL that back after Michelle announced this pregnancy.
I love the Duggars but maybe a child with health issues / disabilities might make them reconsider having more children. They have been so blessed thus far, but why keep risking her health and the baby's health?
for little Josie!

Re: Michelle Duggar gives birth to #19 at 25 weeks
Our friends had a baby at 25 weeks that weighed in a 1lb and 5 ounces and today he is a happy and health 3 year old. THeres a long road ahead for this baby, but there is a good chance she will be fine.
And I agree with what others have said. Enough is enough already.

She was due the same time as me, I am 26 weeks. I couldn't imagine giving birth now. The poor child and family, how heartbreaking.

I hope the baby is okay.
I don't think it is my job to tell people how many children they should or should not have, as long as they can afford them and do not abuse their children, then it is none of my business.
I come from a large family and never felt neglected.

Oh man - 25 weeks???
for mom and baby.
Is there any way of knowing if the gallstones are related at all to her pregnancy or past pregnancies?

ITA - I watch the show all the time. It doesn't even seem like the kids are all that close with the parents, although the kids seem very close with each other. I also agree that the kids have no variety - they all wear the same clothes, play the same instruments as each other, and have had the same "schooling" experience for their whole life. Ginger is my favorite - she's def the bad a s s Duggar.
On a good note, my good friend had twins at 25 weeks weighing in at less than Josie Duggar. They were in the hospital from may - the beg of nov and have their fair share of health problems but they made it!
