Microwave drawer

Anyone have this in their kitchen? The house we're hopefully buying has a cooktop and a double oven and I wanted to put a nice hood over the cooktop so was thinking of doing a microwave drawer....also what else are my options I do not want to have the microwave on the counter...

TIA

we put the microwave drawer in our kitchen - just so you know there really is only one manufactuerer - sharp - you can pay more for a viking or wolf drawer and it is a sharp microwave with a viking or wolf face

one thing to more- my cousin put a regular microwave below a counter and her daughter tried to cook mac and cheese for 90 minutes - she was lucky no major damage happened - the microwave drawer has a locking system

also there are two sizes - but they have the same interior space - the face plates are just different sizes

we got all our appliances from Appliance world in Huntington - they have a good selection of different brands - especially high end stuff and had good prices

Re: Microwave drawer

We have our microwave inside a cabinet in our island. Right now DS can't figure out how to open it (the microwave) but when he does I am going to be installing some kind of lock on the cabinet.

It was fairly inexpensive to have our electrician run an outlet on the inside of our cabinet...

Just something to consider as a cheaper alternative! :)

Re: Microwave drawer

We just installed one in our island because we opted for a decorative hood over the stove. Is it cool?? absolutely Chat Icon but it does not heat the food as even as my old micro with the spinning plate. We have a Sharp and the ratings on it are pretty good--only complaint was the same as me about heating the food evenly. The child look on it is ok--my 4 yr old can still pull it open Chat Icon Overall I'm happy with it and would purchase it again....

We have the sharp unit, was purchased online

We only use it 1-2x a month so we wanted one that wasn't in the way. No complaints about the unit at all but like I said we don't use it that often
