Middle Country Schools????
I'm more interested in Commack, Smithtown and Kings Park, but the taxes are pushing our house search east...
What is MC schools like? What about Sachem and Connetquot - anything we should know? I want DD in a good school.

Re: Middle Country Schools????
Middle Country schools have full day Pre-K, that's very rare. That's all I know.

Re: Middle Country Schools????
We came from Middle Country and are now in Comsewogue. My son is in special education so our experience is different than those of typical children. They are "okay". They have two buildings that house pre-k and kindergarten only, both are GREAT! They also do a nursery school drop off program at the high school ran by students and faculty. Then for 1st through 5th they go to the elementary school. The school my son went to was HUGE (New Lane) and they hardly ever had special events because there were just too many students and the Principal nixes any ideas that come her way for events. The other elementary schools in the district are much more "fun" I guess you could say. As far as test scores, I think they are average.
My only issue with them is that if your child is in special education and is in any type of class other than a general education class (i.e. inclusion, self contained) you will NOT know what school your child will attend in the district until a week before school starts, which isn't fair to the students or the parents.
The MC libarary is fantastic. TONS of baby, toddler, and school age programs.
