Middle country vs 3 village school district. Added a ?
How do these districts compare? Any info? I don't know much about Suffolk.

Adding another question:
would 3 village be one of better districts in suffolk? We are in plainview now,so we would be looking for something comparable

3 village in one of the top ones.
I'm not too sure where middle country stands on average but in comparison to 3 village, 3 village is the better one.

We are in Three Village and they are AMAZING. My son currently is in special ed and they have offered and provided services that most districts would not. Your taxes will be higher in Three Village but it is well worth it IMO.

Three Village has the better reputation for sure, and probably more focus on education within the community as a whole (lots of doctors, scientists live in the area). However, I currently live in MC and was pleasantly surprised. MC has UPK for all children in the district, which was awesome. My DS has had a good kindergarten experience, and while I don't love his teacher, he does and he has learned a lot. Also, MC Public Library is one of the best...they have tons of programs for the community, the Nature Explorium (great outdoor space), special sections just for kids and just for teens.
So while there are lots of great things about Three Village, I wouldn't consider MC a "bad" district. Just offering another point of view.

Seems that middle country is center reach high school? Is this right? I'm confusing myself

I am in the 3VSD. It is a VERY good district, one of the best in Suffolk. It was one of the reasons we decided to buy in Stony Brook.

Plainview is also a good district. I don't how to compare the specifics of each but 3VSD is an excellent district in many respects. You can't go wrong buying a house in 3V.

Middle Country SD includes Selden HS and Centereach HS. I don't know all the middle and elem school names.
The district borders are strange in that area. My parents address is in Port Jeff Station. A few blocks in one direction is South Setauket (3 Village schools) and a few blocks in another is Selden (MCSD).
3 Village has an excellent reputation for academics. Middle Country is pretty good overall, but it's not the same.
eta: Yes I'd say that it's comparable to Plainview, and in some respects, IMO it's better.

Middle Country has 2 high schools: Centereach and Newfield (in Selden).
Generally, Three Village tends to be a higher income area. Houses cost more, taxes are higher, and there tends to be a large population of residents that work at Stony Brook and BNL. Ward Melville is a very large high school.
Middle Country's High schools are a little smaller. It is more diverse in terms of income and residents. My DS's kindergarten class pic looks like a Benneton ad. :)
