Middle Island
I know someone who bought a house in Middle Island and she said that the area is great. I would like to know how great is the area and the school districts? Anyone.

Re: Middle Island
I grew up right next door in Coram, graduated from Longwood in 89, so I don't really know what's become of the SD. It didn't have the best reputation when I was going to school.

Thanks. The reason I am asking is because we were just talking about houses and the costs and she told me that you cannot find a home there for anything under 450K and that they have one of the best school ditricts. I thought you can get a home there for less.

Re: Middle Island
Hmm, I don't know how much things have changed since I left in April...but back then you could DEF get a house under $400K...well under.
MI is nice, it's very remote and not near too many things. We liked it because my baby's vet was nearby (at Smithaven Vet. Hosp) and it was completely different from Brooklyn, where we were living. It reminded us a LOT of GA, actually.
Have no idea about the schools.

OK. Maybe the prices there are rising.

I should add that It's been about 10 years since I lived out there, and my father has since moved to Harbor Hills in Pt. Jeff, so I really have NO idea what the schools are like now.

Re: Middle Island
Did you look at MLS? There are lots of houses in MI for under $400k. I also would not say that the Longwood SD is one of the best on LI.

I saw homes for under $400K and I mentioned that to her and she said that she knows fo a fact that you cannot get a house for under $400k. I was asking about the area since she lives there because a cousin of mine would like to get a house which does not cost over $400K.

Re: Middle Island
It depends on the house, maybe. There are certain neighborhoods (we call them subdivisions here) with new homes that look exactly like starter GA homes...but they cost $400K and up. Picture attached.
Then there are re-sells which are much lower. We were considering MI because the prices were in the 300's. I don't think it's gone up so much in 4 months. I cold be wrong.
This is a "starter" home in GA...$169K. We were surprised to see what they were in MI. Similar house styles too!
