******Middle School Teachers - Do your portfolios ...
look up to the next grade??
My school wants to implement a policy where students portfolios look up with them? But with 1700 kids its difficult.
If so, how does your school do it?

We've been trying to do it- but our school is smaller, and it's more like something we're encouraged to do. It's not mandated.

The way we do it is that the ELA teacher keeps the portfolios in a crate and literally sends them up to the next yr's teacher the following Sept.
High tech, I know.

there are only two LA teachers in my school- me and one other- we save the portfolios for the "other teacher" although it could be me again- and the 8th graders get to take theirs with them and I encourage them to save them...I'm sure most don't though
