Re: Mike Piazza...
I'm sad to see Piazza go as well. He'll always be a Met in my mind - even if he DH's in the AL for a year or two.

Re: Mike Piazza...
I think its pretty dumb to think Piazza even has a chance in hell of going to the Yanks.
I am not sure if anyone has noticed... but the Yanks are stuck with that nasty, untradeable contract that belongs to Jorge Posada.
The Yanks are set at catcher for a while.

OH PUHLEZE....statistically speaking this year the nasty Posada did much better than Piazza...so even if Jorge was could be traded...taking Piazza on as a catcher would NEVER HAPPEN DH ...MAYBE, but i don't think the Yanks would bother....

Maybe you should email Mikey this link, so he can see your post directed towards him.....on a families website....cause I'm pretty darn sure he doesn't read it all by himself!

Posada: .258 / 19 / 70 (141 games)
Piazza: .253 / 19 / 62 (112 games)
Much better?
Red: If you are gonna post a winded statement... at least check the stats before you post.
And I wasn't even trying to say who was better. If you read my original post... I specifically said that Posada had an immoveable contract... and wasn't going anywhere.

Well that was Beddas dumb comment, not any of the Yankee fans here
Posted by DjPiLL I am not sure if anyone has noticed... but the Yanks are stuck with that nasty, untradeable contract that belongs to Jorge Posada.
Yes I've noticed Posada's "nasty contract".. so if we are purely comparing Piazza to Posada on this thread, well that answer is a no brainer. I'd still take Jorge over washed-up Piazza any day of the week.
Posted by DjPiLL The Yanks are set at catcher for a while.
Yes, we are set with a catcher for awhile. Thanks!! BUT who here was talking about Piazza being a CATCHER anymore?!? The only way Piazza has any career in the majors is to become a DH in the American League. And I'm fairly certain that some team in the AL will pick Piazza up, and give him a year or two.. and I think in fact he might be a good fit in the AL. Then again, this is something he should have done YEARS ago... or at the very least, he should have tried harder to learn another position if he was going to stay in the NL

Irrelevant on a post about Piazza since he won't be doing anything more than DH'ing, if that, for the remainder of his career.
There was already a post on Piazza on NFR yesterday but I guess it didn't get in Bedda's attempt at "Yankee-bashing"
It's poser-"fans" like this that give us real Met fans a bad name. Bedda, if you truly had respect for the game, the team and the player, you would never have turned a thread allegedly honoring Piazza into an "I hate the Yankees" thread

So how come you think that Posada was in SOOOO MANY more games than Piazza?
Maybe because Posada didn't take a foul tip to the wrist that ended up breaking it? Maybe because somebody didn't throw and hit Piazza in the head (after Piazza went yard) giving him a concussion?
But regardless...
You people are missing the point and as usual. I originally wasn't comparing Posada to Piazza. Bedda made a dumb comment about Piazza going to the Yanks.
I said there was no chance in hell of him going there... or ANY catcher going there for that matter cause Posada has probably the worst contract of all Major League catchers right now (along with Kendall).
The Yanks won't be getting any new catchers for at least a few more years and are stuck with Posada (who at least for them is serviceable enough).

I agree that Piazza's past injuries have made him sit out more games then Posada. But I also think age comes into play. Mike's got 3 years on Posada. That's a big difference with catchers.

Exactly on both counts...making Piazza not exactly the most desired catcher on the block

Agreed. I remember my DH and I going to his first game as a Met (we were engaged at the time). He is such a hottie.

Come on now. You can't bash someone else when your screen name on this website is named after a Yankee player.
Oh... speaking of names... isn't the term 'E-Rod' so appropriate after last night's game?
