MINI UPDATE AT BOTTOM -Back from the Dr.
So, DH and I just came back from the Dr. I'm not quite sure how I'm feeling right now... as I've posted I'm on CD57 and have nothing more than a little spotting every couple of days for the past 2 weeks. Even though I already had an annual PAP a few months back, the Dr. did another because of my "abnormal" spotting. After the exam, she had my DH and I sit in her office and went over an infertility worksheet. She said that even though I've only been off BCP since August that because of the abnormal spotting there IS a problem. She indicated that most likely it's PCOS and assured DH and myself that it is treatable. She wrote a RX for me to have a preconception blood work up which checks my hormonal levels (pitituary, thyroid, adrenal and also my ovaries) She also ordered another blood work up (I forget, I have the paperwork upstairs). And a SA for DH (which he is VERY pleased about )
She also instructed me to start using the OPKs after my next period (whenver that might be!) She didn't want to give me any meds just yet untill I get the bloodwork done and knows the results. So for now it's just a waiting game.
I did get home and saw I had some blood (more than I've had over the past two weeks). But I'm pretty sure that's just from her poking around in there.
So, that's my story for now....

Re: Back from the Dr.
I know exactly what you're going through. I have my own parking spot at the blood lab. (well, not really, but I should) It's good to know now and get those tests done. PCOS is not something to be upset about. Many girls got pregnant on their own, or with the use of some medications. Be thankful that you were smart enough to go to the doctor now!

Re: Back from the Dr.
Some of us have a long road to a healthy baby. We did and it was hard but as a previous poster said its best to find out whats wrong and fix it than to constantly go through hearthache. I am relatively new but I cousel pregnant women with really tough conception stories so if you need to talk please feel free to FM me

Re: Back from the Dr.
first of all, i give you tons of credit for having the guts to go to the doctor and get this all done, given how anxiety-provoking it is for you. about the fertility workup - i am so sorry you are going through it... but it also sounds like you are on your way to getting some answers, which is one step closer to getting a BFP.
so hang in there, we are all here for you... and lots of

Re: Back from the Dr.
Thanks everyone! I know it's not the end of the world. I'm trying to keep a positive outlook and hope that the only reason I haven't gotten AF yet is because my body is adjusting to not being on BCP
Now it's just a matter of getting the blood work up so we can move forward.

Re: Back from the Dr.
It does sound like your Dr is on the ball. Many Dr's have told women it's just fine to have spotting and long cycles. There are many girls who got PG(including some on this board) with PCOS. I HIGHLY recommend The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis. It will help you get a head start by giving you natural ways to control the way your body processes insulin including diet, supplements, accupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. HTH. Good luck!

Re: Back from the Dr.
Thanks again everyone... I'm just feeling down about this and worried that it could take a long time to get pg, or a few months until we can even start trying again, since it's already been 2 months since AF last showed her ugly face. I so feel my clock ticking, and want to be pg so badly. I'm no spring chicken.
We went for the bloodwork today DH was so wonderful because I am NOT good with needles and he is not good about watching that stuff, but he was right there with me holding my hand. I feel so blessed to have him. They took 5 viles of blood he told me! I just keep trying to remind myself this is not the end of the world. This is going to be a LONG drawn out week while I wait for the blood work results.
Thank again everyone!

Re: Back from the Dr.
My doctor called me this evening.
The good news is just about all my hormone levels came back normal. (My sister was happy about that because she was concerned about diabities because of my weight) Except for one. She told me that my testosterone levels are on the high side and that is why I haven't gotten my period (still nothing). She is going to put me on Clomid, but didn't want to prescribe it over the phone without talking to me in person. So I have an appointment for tomorrow after work.
I do have to say that I'm happy we found this out so early in the TTC process.

Re: MINI UPDATE AT BOTTOM -Back from the Dr.
Update #2
So the doctor told me to wait until the end of December to see if AF comes. If it does not, she gave me a prescription for Provera to start AF. Then on Day 5-9 I am to take Clomid which will help me ovulate. On day 10, I am to start using OPKs.
I thought AF showed yesterday I was crampy, my lower back hurt, and I hadn't had any spotting in over a week. HOWEVER, this morning, nothing...
