Mini-vent - work related
So, this week is my last week at work (I teach). My leave replacement has been in the room with me the last couple of days. Last week, she mentioned to me that if I make tomorrow my last day instead of Friday, she will get "leave replacement" pay instead of "sub pay" for the rest of the year, since she will have the right number of days. I told her that I wasn't sure how long I would last, and we'd see! Today, she asked me again if I had put any thought into leaving two days early since the pay would be better...
Is it me, or is that a bit pushy? I have made my last day known for over two months now...plus any time I take off now, I lose at the end when I could be home with my baby. Am I wrong to be a bit annoyed? I feel like I was given a guilt trip.

Your decision about when to start your leave time should be based upon how you feel and how much time you want to spend at home, not on whether it financially benefits your leave replacement. I would definitely be annoyed.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That girl needs to back off. You work as long as you want to, screw that.

Wow! I can't believe the nerve of her. I would NEVER EVER even ask someone that. She doesn't know you other than through school right? I can't believe it. It's totally up to you, don't for one second feel bad about your decision of leaving Friday...the heck with her!

ITA...she has one big set of balls! Do not base your decision on her at all, base it on how you feel and what works best for you and your family. You have every right to be annoyed (and I would stay til Friday just cuz she asked, but that's just me) totally rude to act like that.

That is very nervy of her! If she isn't happy with the pay then she should have never agreed to cover you and let someone else do the job!
