Missing cat after fire?.. UPDATE ON LAST POST!!!!!
Hey guys....
My stepdaughters' home burnt down. The cat has been missing since the fire. He was an indoor cat.
The fire fighters said they did see a cat run out in the backyard.
My family posted pics up and down the block. My stepdaughters' boyfriend especially cannot function. He was very attached to the cat and goes back everyday to loom for him. They leave food out for him too.
Let's say the cat did survive.... And he ran out.
Would he come back after a few days? Would he hang around?
Would he just wander aimlessly? Do you think the fire would freak him out to return? The smell of the fire would deter him?
We just want to know he is safe. Is this hopeless????

cats are NOTORIOUS for returning. Have had cats all my life,and this has always rang true
Just an example.....
we bought our house and the previous owner had a cat. She moved a couple towns over and the cat gets out once in awhile and heads to our yard.
I'd leave out some food. other animals may get to it, but if the cat smells the remains of the food, it will probably keep coming back.
hope it works out.
also post about it on Craigslist under the pets section and notify local shelters of this situation. give a pic/desription of cat. they can then call you. scour craigslist for found cats, too. lots of people post lost/found ads.

There was a story about a woman who's house was destroyed by tornado and one her cats was missing. They later found the cat i believe it was a month later hiding in the rubble of the house.
I hope your stepdaughter cat comes back. i would post of craigslist, animal shelters and facebook.

I hope the kitty comes back!!
My peanut slipped out of the house one day. He was gone for 3 weeks....my mom was besides herself. We got my mom a kitten thinking our peanut would not come back. We had another cat also....
well one night there was crying the back corner of the backyard...it was peanut!! but he was afraid to come to us....I think he jsut was wayyy spooked
He was wayy skinny too and beat up a lil bit....but he DID come back!
and now my mom has 3 kitties!
FIngers crossed for you...just keep checking it can take some time but they do come back

Just got an update.... Turns out a neighbor reported that a cat that fits the description has been showing up around the neighborhood!!!! He has been feeding him outside of his house.... So now they are going to try to get go back and see if they can get him!!!

And that's the next problem..... they are homeless right now. We can't take him in because he fights with other cats. They are trying to get an apartment but so far no luck.
