Re: Mixing Breast milk and formula
Hi There!
Welcome! Congrats on your little one!
I used to mix BM and Formula in the same bottle when I was pumping! I don't know if you are really supposed to do that- but I don't see why not!
HTH!

Re: Mixing Breast milk and formula
the only reason why I wouldn't mix them is because sometimes the baby won't finish the bottle. You want the baby to receive all the nutrients from the BM so I would feed your DC the BM and then feed the formula. So to not waste the BM. Good Luck!

Re: Mixing Breast milk and formula
Thanks guys. I was giving her BM exclusively, but Dr wants formula for 4 days to try to flush out the lil jaundice she still has.. there is a condition called BM Jaundice, weird I know, but she was so "regular" on BM, now she does not have a BM as much and is fussy. I have stored all the pumped BM, you would crack up at my fridge...

I mix but thats because my DD usually finishes her bottles. With that said-I do try to give her full bottles of BM and mix only when I have say half a bottle of BM and need a full bottle.

Re: Mixing Breast milk and formula
Welcome and congrats!!!!
DS also had the jaundice and I was told to flush with a little bit of formula. I never mixed though. I fed my milk, then would add a 2oz bottle of formula in those first few weeks. We only added the formula once or twice per day. Hope this helps!

Congrats on your new little bundle of joy!
Like Kelly said I'd give a bm bottle & then need feeding formula or else split it up.
Also you mentioned storing your bm in your fridge...I hope you meant freezer?
You really shouldn't keep your bm in the fridge for more than 6 days. You can freeze them, however.

Re: Mixing Breast milk and formula-Storage
Thanks again for the congrats. Sweet, I store my BM -(I pumped like 30+ oz a day!) in ziplock bags for now in fridge. Monday I go back to Dr to check jaundice and can resume BM feeding. I have stored BM in freezer if Im not using with in 3 days.
**what do you guys use to store BM in freezer??**

Re: Mixing Breast milk and formula
the breast milk bags- they have triple the layers and are designed specifically for the freezer. i like the gerber ones best - they're easier to useand stand upright on their own when filled!
not sure if u've been there yet,, but kellymom.com is a great site for bfing women
