MMR question
DH and I just cannot decide what to do. After research, stories, more research, discussions w/dr, we said we are doing it.
Then I get a call from someone who hears a story about another child whose family says not to do it.
I am afraid of breaking it up for various reasons--not finding a vaccine and for introducing 3 different preservatives into her body instead of just 1.
Any advice/storeis would be appreciated. We obviously only want what is best and will get them/whether all or seperate in a timely fashion.
Thanks in advance.

Re: MMR question
My DS got it at 15 months, which is when my ped gives it.
For us, delaying or not giving is not an option. My DH is an EMT for the FDNY and he honestly comes in contact with these disease and we cannot risk DS getting them for that reason.
It is a very tough and personal decision

Re: MMR question
I see your point w/DH. I was all set on doing it and now I hear a story again.
I'm just not sure about the preservatives in breaking it up....all of that x3 if I seperate scares me just the same.
Can someone tell me the benefits of delaying?

Re: MMR question
DH and i kept doing the same going back and forth.. even while I was in the exam room for her 15m ck up.. i was still undecided. I talked it over with my peds and she told me if I wanted I could split it but there was no guarantee they would have the single dosage of the vac that I needed when the next month came. It would be a hit or miss every month.. and didnt want something to happen b/c I kept waiting for right vaccine. So I ended up deciding on just getting the full vaccine that day.. Not exactly the way I expected to decide but at least now I know its over with.

Re: MMR question
My advice would be to decide, possibly even give yourself a deadline to decide and then do not look back. I split them but I am doing so in such a way that any delay will be minimal. Once I made the schedule with my pediatrician, I was no longer open to non-medical opinions unless someone gave me groundbreaking information. So far, nothing I have heard has been much different than the stories I got before I made my decision. FYI, I did a lot of reading and research and I'm fairly well versed in medical matters. I do not believe in the connection between vaccines and autism and the majority of my reasons for splitting were unrelated to that.
ETA: My ped has said that she has what she needs set aside for her regular patients who have set schedules with her office. I have to trust her on that. There was one vaccine (not MMR related) that she wanted to give a bit earlier because she had it on hand but there was a shortage in other places. So, we made a slight schedule change.

Re: MMR question
I asked my pediatrician about the vaccine and autism and she said that she gave it to her kids and if she thought for any reason that it was related to the vaccine she would not have given to her children.... not to mention the risks of your child getting one of those disease is way worse than having a child with autism... my DS got it at 15 months...

Re: MMR question
Tnx to all that responded.
That's my problem--I keep going back and forth. We have to make a deadline and stick w/it.
Now I have to decide upon a deadline! Ugh, when this is over I will be very relieved!!!
